This case is really hitting me... not sure why, but I hope he's okay. Doesn't sound good.

This young man has been missing for a week.

Is it possible for this thread to be moved to the actual missing forum so that he gets a little attention?

There are facebook pages, and his family is actively looking for him. GBI is involved.

Thanks AmandaReckonwith. You can of course start another thread for Charles in the Discussion forum at anytime. It is perfectly fine to have two threads.

Charles S. Parker was last seen in Athens GA, where he'd gone to look at property for a business venture.

There is actually some good coverage in the Atlanta area for Charles, and his family is not letting up on trying to find Charles.

Please add news links to this thread.

I wonder what the heck a meeting about chickens was about... a 25 yr old man.. talking about chickens.. was Charles a farmer??

Was going to purchase the land as a family thing to help save money for the family?

Just seems weird to me...

The GBI's Jim Fullington says Parker met with a man to discuss the possibility of purchasing land in Madison County for chickens. Fullington says the meeting between the two men ended at about 4:30 Sunday afternoon.

Did anyone see Charles after he left the meeting? Cell phone calls made from his phone? Just reading up on this case, thank you ARW for bringing Charles to our attention. He certainly does not seem the type to leave and not contact anyone. ~Praying for his safe return~

Kenisha Parker said she has been calling her husband's cell phone since Sunday night but it has been going straight to voice mail.

The man said he and Parker looked at properties in Madison county, and Parker drove him back home around 4 p.m.

The Banner also reported Parker could have possibly met with a woman on Sunday who had won some lottery money and was willing to lend Parker some for his business.

The reports of this woman come from the Oglethorpe County Sheriff. But, according to the Banner, the Georgia Business Bureau special agent in charge of the Athens field office was unaware of these reports.

What about this woman he may have met with? Was this after he looked at the properties?

There is alot of money in chicken farming. The rural areas around Athens and in Madison county are replete with chicken houses dotting the landscape. If he was being hit by the downturn in the economy, a chicken farm is consistant $$ on a regular 6-8 week schedule. (Dad farmed chickens, among other things in the rural area around Athens)

Charles' cell phone pinged around Smithsonia and Collier Church Rd.
Searches did not find him or the phone.

There's a bunch of lakes around there. I wonder if they used dogs.
Not a huge amount of news and info, but this is not the kind of guy who walks out (or so it seems).

The last thing he did before going to check out the chicken farm property was give a rendition of MLK famous "I Have A Dream" speech at his church that Sunday.

Link to that location story:

Then, early Wednesday morning, an Athens-Clarke police officer found Parker’s black 2010 Chrysler 300 parked on Hoyt Street, near College Avenue north of downtown, Fullington said. The missing man’s car and belongings were found in different locations within about a mile of each other, but Fullington wouldn’t specify where.

In addition to the business associate, Parker possibly was to meet Sunday with a woman who’d won some lottery money and was going to give the men a loan to finance the planned business endeavor in Madison County, according to Oglethorpe County Sheriff Mike Smith.

Smith got involved in the case after authorities “pinged” Parker’s cellphone at a location in the vicinity of Smithonia and Collier Church roads in Oglethorpe County, he said. Deputies searched the area Monday and Tuesday, but could neither find the phone nor locate any witnesses who had seen Parker.

Much better properties, TY Knox.

No mention if he was planning to move to the farm or be an absentee owner. I lean towards owner/invester since he is a banker.

I wish there were more details. Like the names. Who did he go there with? Who is the lottery woman? Did Charles get sucked into a scam or robbery that went wrong?

I lean towards scam going wrong, and I hope he is alive but..

eta: what do you suppose he found out about this property as an investment because of being the bank asst manager? Would he have access to foreclosure info?
