The original story in Swedish has more detail and some people are sceptical if one can survive for two months like that, but it's possible his metabolism slowed down in the cold. T

That article doesn't explain the reason why he sat inside his car for two months either. I mean, after a month he was probably too weak to dig himself out but what happened initially?

There's more to this story, imo. I don't believe he could've survived in the car in -30 temperatures. Hypothermia would've set in within a couple of hours, imo. 2 months? Doubt this story.

It sounds like he may have sat there voluntarily in some crazy suicide attempt. He was in debt, not in contact with his child, and broke up with his gf. Apparently he had soft drinks in the car. I also read that he had a sleeping bag which sounds like he was planning to stay for a bit. (but I can't find the link now so take it FWIW).

The vehicle does look like it's been stuck in the snow for a while.


Two months in the cold sounds very extreme and unlikely but easier maybe if he had planned it and brought blankets, sleeping bag etc.. and the snow blanket helps as insulation. Still... *shivers*

According to a Swedish (tabloid) newssource he may have lived in his car in the woods since last summer. He used to visit a shop nearby to get coffee or gas and then just stopped coming and they thought he had gone home, but, apparently not.

Police got a tip about his car in January but didn't follow up because the car wasn't reported stolen.

It says here he was trapped in by heavy snowfall which sounds unintentional.

A friend of Mr Skyllberg’s claimed yesterday that he had disappered last May with debt collectors on his heels and had not been heard from since.

Police in Umea are baffled as to why Mr Skyllberg apparently did not try to leave his car. While the claim he had survived for 60 days with no food has drawn scepticism, experts say it is possible.

Mr Skyllberg is recovering in Umea’s Norrlands hospital but refuses to talk to the press. Police believe his claims that he lived on snow and confirmed that he had not many hours to live when found.

He has not been in contact with his family for many years. “I have no information about him. He stopped contacting the family 20 years ago,” his father said.

"If you cool the body, of course the metabolism slows down, but I don't think he would have survived if that had happened.

"In the car he had very warm clothes, he had a warm sleeping bag, and as the car was snowed under, that would have made it more like an igloo. Down below the snow, you would normally have a temperature of around zero," he said.

I read about him today. He could not survive in the car.

There has to be more to the story.
He was also in money trouble and he has been known to lock himself in the car and live there.

Some kind of scam may be going on. For what reason, I don't know. ($)..
I mean, he risked his life to do this to himself. He almost died

When the police came to get him he didn't want to leave his car and he has said that he wants to go back to his car. Unfortunately the vehicle has been vandalized.

Ha ha ha, I clicked on the link and it's in Swedish, and then I see where you say it's in Swedish, but I literally LOL'd.

I'm thinking this guy may be mentally ill and have some form of agoraphobia, but to his car instead of his house. Maybe he'll get some treatment that will help stabilize him.

He is still hospitalized.
They have investigated his food shopping and found the shop where he apparently bought his last meal from before Christmas but the salespeople don't remember him coming in. The police say they don't have reason to suspect his story; the road he was on was not plowed during the winter and there were no footprints or other tracks to suggest that he had been out of his vehicle lately. The traffic police officer who was first to arrive says that he's never seen such a thin person, there was just his head sticking out of a sleeping bag and he could barely speak. He may have been eating some sort of skin ointment. The melting snow has uncovered his vehicle as well as garbage and empty liquor bottles around it. I wonder if he still had booze in the car after he stopped eating.

Discovery is going to do a document about the story so it's kind of ironic, if he wanted to flee from everything and live under the radar in the woods and became a world sensation. Careful what you wish for.
