Hamtramck— "Help us. They got us."

Those were two of the desperate messages texted by Abreeya Brown, 18, and her friend, Ashley Conaway, 22, from the trunk of a getaway car about an hour after they were allegedly kidnapped 10 p.m. Tuesday from their house on the 2200 block of Andrus Street by two men. The messages ceased after about an hour.

If the police found the kidnappers and the burned out car, but not the women, that doesn't look good for the women. I hope they weren't killed and dumped somewhere. Why didn't they use the cell phone to call police instead of relatives? Maybe the police could have found them faster and saved them.

I am adding my 2 cents re: the texts. I have a prepaid cell phone with GPS disabled AND the phone is not in my name. I can honestly tell you all, I would text my very closest friend as many details as I could and I would NOT call 911. Its useless in my situation unless I know exactly where I am and that I am staying there. I personally believe, they did not know the names of who took them, AND that they were not stationary when they texted that..... I am terrified for these women.

Mother: Police to search wooded area for missing Hamtramck women
By Oralandar Brand-Williams
The Detroit News

Detroit— The mother of one of the missing women kidnapped in Hamtramck last week says police have planned to search a wooded area bordering a tributary of the Rouge River on the city's far northwest side Wednesday.

"They are going out there today," said Lois Brown, mother of 18-year-old Abreeya Brown. "It's a very scary area not far from where the car (believed to be the car the women were taken in) was found."

Brown said the search area is not far from where she and a search party of family, friends and other volunteers searched through vacant houses in the area of West McNichols and Chatham Streets looking for clues to her daughter and friend's whereabouts...

Missing Hamtramck women did everything together

From the time they met as children in Hamtramck, Ashley Conaway and Abreeya Brown were together more often than not.

The friends -- with a penchant for shopping and dressing up -- were just as apt to pop into a Sunday morning church service as a late-night dance party.

They worked together. They lived together. They spent much of their free time together.

And they disappeared together.

I think about these women every day and wonder why there is no (in my opinion) urgency in locating them? Has it become so commonplace for things like this to happen in certain cities that they become numb to it? How horribly terrifying for the girls and their families. They need to be found, especially under the situation of obviously having been kidnapped. This is a serious situation! MOO
