UNSOLVED IN - Gary, Skull found on dead end street, 02 March 2012

The worker from the American Water Co. first found the skull around 4 p.m. Thursday in the weedy area in the Midtown section of Gary, just north of the Borman Expressway.

Police responded to the scene and found scraps of clothing, as well as other ones, nearby at the southwest corner of 27th Avenue and Maryland Street in Gary, the Post-Tribune reported.

Investigators believe there is at least one body at the scene.

Some MSM indicates the skull was found Thursday, March 1st.

We have an idea who it is, said Detective Jim Tomko of the Lake County Sheriffs Department Crime Lab. He said investigators have been looking for the individual for years.

I am not sure this is correctly reported...? As far as I can tell from Google maps these two streets don't have a corner in common. Anyone local here?

But Maryland Street is not far at all from the campus that Benita Spears was last seen at and John Len Taylor's walking route would also have taken him thereabouts.

Google Street View shows Maryland Street turning into a scrabbly path south of E 26th Avenue, then making a 90° turn west to become E 27th Avenue.

Not listed in Namus so may have been identified. Benita and John listed above are still missing, Margie was located by police in 2014 living in California & committed suicide when located by police.
