GUILTY KY - Brandon Crain, 19, Munfordville, 26 Jan 2012

These are older articles, but give a little more information about the circumstances around his disappearance.

About 2 a.m., an aunt who was staying at the residence heard Crain leave through the front door, she said.

When his mother went to his room to wake him for work, he was still gone. He has a car, but had loaned it to a friend at the time of his disappearance. Crain has never been away from this area, Moldon said.

“I believe somebody drew him out of the house. Somebody called him out,” she said. “I don’t believe he just up and disappeared.”

Molden believes the teen was too trusting and willing to accept anyone as a friend.

Crain's aunt, Wanda Collins says the most recent example of the 19-year-old's giving character was in January, when he lent his car to someone for a month.

Collins says it was the same night that Crain asked for his car back, that he disappeared from his mother's apartment.

At this point, there has been AMPLE time to check out his cell phone or other communications by computer. I would think first priority would be the guy he lent his car to for a month and then asked for it back hours before he vanished.

That alone should be sufficient to get a search warrant on the person who has his car.

BTW, has whoever borrowed his car for a whole month prior to his disappearance returned it to the family?

Looks like they have 2 Facebook pages then.

This one has flyers: http://www.facebook.com/help.find.brandon

Has LE made contact with whoever had his car? Where is it now?
Was it normal for him to just wander out in the middle of the night?? I mean, it didn't seem like the aunt tried to stop him or got up to question him when she heard him...
Poor guy...I hope he can be found safe.

ETA I did just read on http://www.facebook.com/help.find.brandon?sk=wall
that family had the car now. And a very disturbing blurb - nsipped Jan 31-
"About two weeks ago, he suffered a gunshot wound to his thigh, Moldon said. Crain told his sister that he wanted to know what it would feel like to be shot and that he shot himself with a 22-caliber gun. But Moldon believes that her brother was covering for one of his new friends."
BBM-this is disturbing to me

HMM wonder who these NEW friends are???

Very interesting about the gunshot!!! Wow...

Brandon Crain, 19, so desperately wanted friends that he would give away his entire paycheck to co-workers in need and go without food just to help someone else.

"He quit school when he was 16," said his sister, Vanessa Moldon of Horse Cave. "He never seemed to feel like he fit in anywhere. He was bullied his whole life about his sexuality. It really affected his mind and put him in a deep, dark depression.

[snip]

"People thought he was gay. He was very open that he was not gay," Moldon said. "It really hurt him to be teased like that. He just wanted to be loved."

:( I hope Brandon is okay.

Another young man found in a river. So sorry Brandon. RIP :rose:

The article didn't have much to say. I hope his family finds the answers to what happened. How sad. :(

UGH! This is so sad. That poor kid.

Thank you for posting this update. I was thinking about this young man the last couple days, wanted to look up this case, but I couldn't remember his name! :( I felt so horrible. I remembered his face though. Yep, I sure did.
RIP and my heart goes out to his family.

From January 2014:

Daniel Hostetler was sentenced Tuesday in Hart Circuit Court to 13 years in prison for first-degree manslaughter and tampering with physical evidence.

Just days before his case was scheduled to go to trial, Hostetler, 20, of Summer Shade, had pleaded guilty in August to causing the death of Brandon Crain, 19, of Munfordville and disposing of his body...

Hostetler and Crain had arranged to meet at the Dollar General store in Munfordville, where Hostetler picked up Crain and the pair drove along Old Cut Road. At some point, Hostetler pulled over and stopped, and an altercation between the two escalated until Hostetler struck Crain in the head, according to prior testimony. Hostetler then drove to a boat dock and dropped Crain’s body in the river.
