A post mortem picture was just added to namus this week (April 9,2012) which may help this older case from 1981 get solved.

Circumstances of death
This White male adult, designated John Doe #13-81, was a pedestrian struck and killed by an automobile on a city street in Fontana, CA. It is suspected that he was a transient. He is described as between 40 and 60, 5'3" to 5'5" tall, weighed approximately 150 lbs, with graying brown hair and hazel-gray eyes. He had no teeth (edentulous). Identity may only be established with fingerprints (on file and see attached) and DNA (submitted October 2009).

MULTIPLE SCARS: 2” SCAR TO LT ABDOMEN, TRANSVERSE SCAR ACROSS LOWER RT ABDOMEN, DIAGONAL SCAR FROM RT LOWER ABDOMEN TO PUBIC REGION AND ANOTHER TO LT INGUINAL AREA. THORACOTOMY SCAR TO RIGHT CHEST. SCOLIOSIS NOTED.
Crew cut hair cut.
Pictures of clothing on namus, but brands/items not listed, and no sizing recorded.

This motor vehicle-pedestrian accident occurred on St.Patrick's Day 1981, so I am calling this UID is 'St. Patrick' until identified.
 
What do you think of Daniel Norman Shrock missing in CA since 1979 and fairly scant details. It's not clear from the photo in Namus which one is Daniel (it's a group shot). However if he is the adut male to the rear then I think he has the same hairline and potentially ear-shape as the UID. It's definitely worth a submission for comparison. The physical stats, location, date, and circumstances surrounding Daniel's disappearance all seem like a match. Good job!

I don't understand why they couldn't at least draw on the pic a circle around Daniel.
