Whiteville, Tn - Hardeman County deputies are searching for a mother and her three daughters after they disappeared Friday. No one's seen or heard from them since.

Her husband says they've been married 11 years and hopes the TBI will find answers.

A dangerous man whom authorities say killed a Tennessee woman and her teenage daughter and fled with her two younger girls in a kidnapping plot has ties to Cherokee County, his brother said Wednesday.

~~

Johnny Lee Mayes II, who now lives in Cowpens, said Wednesday that he and Adam Mayes are two of six siblings raised by their parents, Johnny and Mary Frances Mayes. Mary Frances Mayes is originally from Gaffney and still has relatives here, said Johnny Mayes II, 44.

“When we were growing up, we moved around everywhere,” Johnny Mayes II said. “That's why my brother has ties to places all over the country, because we lived sort of this nomadic lifestyle. ... I don't know why. We lived in the Carolinas for most of our lives. And I settled in Cowpens, and they moved to Tennessee.”

Johnny Mayes II said the family once lived in Texas for nine years, the longest period they stayed anywhere.

ETA: There is much more in this article about Mary Mayes.

Is there a case map anywhere? I didn't see it in first post. TIA

In the story quoting AM's brother Johnny, he says that he didn't hear from his sister, Pamela Bain, in several years but heard from her about six months ago. Doesn't that coincide with the time when Gary and JoAnn Bain returned to Tennessee from Arizona? Sure, it was the holidays. But I wonder whether her call was more associated with the Bain and Mayes issues.

IS Pam his sister?

There are reports that Adam Mayes and Gary Bain were once married to sisters, but Tennessee Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Kristin Helm said that is not correct. Helm confirmed Wednesday that Gary Bain and Adam Mayes became acquainted when Gary and Pamela Bain were married years ago. After their divorce, Adam Mayes kept in touch with Gary Bain, who later married Jo Ann Bain

MOO TM is setting up her defense. The murders weren't premeditated. JB and AB woke up and began to fight so AM killed them. If that were the case why didn't GB wake up? Not buying it!

I believe TM wanted JB and AB dead. She hated them. They were of no use to AM. JB wouldn't have him and AB had outgrown his desire. I think he likes the younger girls. I believe the "plan" was to get the four out of the house and kill the two who would talk. The two who would tell on him. He lured them outside, surprised them, and killed them.

TM is not a poor little innocent girl who went along with her loving hubby! Sorry. She's as cold blooded at AM. She was jealous and angry. She blamed them for her lousy marriage and she couldn't have children so she resented JB even more. I believe this was pay back for her. I believe if she had it her way all four would be dead. jmo

As far a TM's sister goes she hasn't spoken to her sister in 11 years. Everything she knows is gossip. Second hand from other family members or friends. She too is setting up her sister's defense.............MOO

Think about what TM's neighbor said. TM would go outside yelling at AM. Would a terrified, intimidated little mouse do that?

NO, she was a jealous woman. A woman scorned. It was said up thread that TM and AM were divorced yet she stayed............ That speaks volumes to me. She could have found a way to leave if she really wanted to leave. jmo

Pam is one of the five AM siblings. She married GB several decades ago (about 25 years). After their divorce, GB married JB. Thus, AM and GB are BILs and have been since AM was 9 years old.

The INCORRECT media report indicated that AM and GB married sisters, which would also make them BILs. However, the report is in error and is corrected in the above TBI quote (in the past TBI was cited as the source for the INCORRECT report that AM and GB married sisters).

AM has only married TM. They are now divorced and have no children.

GB has only married Pamela and JB.

However, there are rumors that AM dated JB prior to (and durring) her marriage to GB.
AM is or thinks he (AM) is the biological father of one or both of the abducted children.

A woman doesn't have to be a timid little mouse to be manipulated or scared of a man (or even a mean MIL.) I don't think she was forced at gunpoint to go along with the kidnapping and murder, but she may have felt that this would put her in his favor if she helped him. Maybe her jealousy of Joann made her think if she helped get rid of her, he would be happy.
I agree she is probably not a timid little mouse, probably somewhere in the middle of the line between that and a strong defensive woman. But, yes... even a little mouse will sometimes yell or fight back when they're cornered. I was a scared little mouse once myself, but I got tired of it pretty quick and fought back, and then I got the heck out of there.

Are there any reports about if mom and daughter were still in there regular clothes or in night clothes? Any time of death yet reported?
Also wife had to stay all night also to be able to 'view' the murders.
When did she drive away with the girls and the deceased???
Was AM with her? or did she drive alone??
I'm full of questions this morning.

Well GB said helast saw J at 1am when he was going to bed.
Now did JB stay up later to clean up maybe they had a few beers and some snacks so she tidays up and Bam AM makes his move takes her out to the garage and kills her.

He calls Wifey or wifey is already there hiding in the woods they put JB's body in the trunk!

He goes in and wakes the oldest says her mom wants her and they go
out towards the garage and daughter freaks out they Kill her and pput her in the trunk along with JB.

Now he goes in and gets the two little gilrs and off they go!

This theory of mine at least dosent have the little girls watching this man kill their MoM and sister!

From No Stone Unturned (in prev. thread):

http://www.wmctv.com/story/18248363/...-sister-speaks

According to Booth, who is TM's sister,

Quote:
The kids would come to visit and he would have the girls in the bedroom and lock the door and not let my sister in there," said Booth.

Booth said the Mayes family moved to Mississippi soon after that because someone contacted authorities.
Can that last sentence be verified?
I understand your point. But what state did this occur in, if just prior to them moving to MS? AZ? ? Obviously it seems to have occured during the time that TM lived with/was married to AM...

I don't recall us knowing anything about the Mayes family movements, except for JM II's recent interview.
