The Cassia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the disappearance of two residents of the Alpine Garden Motel in Burley.

Sheriff: Motel employee may be victim of violent act

The search continues for two men who recently disappeared from a Burley motel.

James Ambrose, 54, and Russ Taft were last seen one week ago at the Alpine Garden Motel. Both men were employees of the motel.

Cassia County Sheriff Fear Missing Burley Hotel Employee May Be Victim Of A Violent Act

James Duane Ambrose, 54, has a felony warrant out of Cassia County for Grand Theft with a bond of $250,000. In the last week, police say he has been seen in the Las Vegas area. He is suspected of stealing an automobile from the Alpine Motel.

Meanwhile, Russ Taft is still unaccounted for and authorities fear he may be the victim of a violent act.

Body Found at Burley Alpine Garden Inn

Police have not released whether the body of an adult male found Friday in a Burley motel’s crawl space is that of one of two men reported missing from the motel on May 4.

Investigators Confirm Body Found at Burley Motel is Russ Taft

Russ Taft, 54, has been positively identified as the person found dead in a crawl space at the Alpine Garden Inn.

The sheriffs office is looking for James Duane Ambrose, 55, for questioning. Ambrose was last seen in Las Vegas, Nev., around May 7. Taft and Ambrose were reported missing from the motel on May 4.

A former handyman pleaded guilty Tuesday to killing Russ Taft, a one-time Longview resident, and hiding Taft’s body in the crawlspace of a motel Taft owned...

Ambrose also pleaded guilty to grand theft for stealing Taft’s car.

District Judge Michael Crabtree sentenced Ambrose to from 30 years to life in prison.
