Police discover horrific murder scene after passerby finds baby in the middle of the road at night (Daily Mail)
A baby boy alone in the middle of the road led police to a gruesome crime scene where they found one man dead.

Javier Maldonado, 32, was unresponsive when police entered a home on Saturday night in Worcester, Massachusetts where they also found the child's 18-year-old mother and a 36-year-old woman critically injured.

Police came across the horrific scene after they got a report at 11.56pm of a three-month-old baby inside a car seat on the road.
---
'Police heard sounds of a person in distress inside the apartment so a forced entry was conducted,' according to the report.
---
One of the women lay on the floor near Mr Maldonado. The other was found elsewhere in the apartment with injuries.

The names of the two women, who remain in critical condition at hospital, have not been released. The identity of the baby also has not been made public. The extent of their injuries and what exactly happened to them has also not been revealed.

I wonder why they would take the baby, and then leave it on the side of the road? Maybe the father of the child? Sad...Waiting for more info today..

I wondered also if the father of the child did this. Mr. Ramirez (also found dead in his home) might have been the father of the child.

Worcester police encounter 2 killings (Worchester Telegram & Gazette)
WORCESTER — While police are not discussing possible motives in two slayings during the weekend — one on Lovell Street and the other on Newton Avenue — they have confirmed that drugs were found at both locations.

The type of drugs found has not been disclosed. The two killings are not related, according to police.

Yesterday police released the name of a man fatally shot late Sunday night inside a Newton Avenue apartment. Nestor Ramirez, 25, who lived at 5 Newton Ave., died sometime around 11:45 p.m. Sunday. Police have not said where in his body Mr. Ramirez was shot. He was found face down on the floor when police arrived.

This story puzzles me.

I hope we get some more info. Thank God the baby is okay.

Worcester killings disrupt neighborhood calm (www.telegram.com)
WORCESTER — People walked dogs and jogged yesterday in the muggy mid-afternoon air, while children played at the Midland Street School playground, their voices echoing off a nearby building.

It was the kind of normal, everyday serenity that residents are used to in the Lovell Street and Newton Avenue neighborhoods.

But the calm and sense of security were helped, in part, by a heightened police presence that has been part of the neighborhoods — less than a mile apart — since two fatal weekend attacks. Both neighborhoods have been designated by the Police Department as tactical response areas.
---
Police have said neither killing was random, and do not appear to be related.

much more, good atmospheric piece, at link above

That bit in boldface is a step away from the earlier "are not related" LE surmise, incidentally.
