Social Security survivor benefits are paid to surviving children when a parent passes. This would mean that the parent intended to be able to provide for the child and then passed so the child lost that support.
This mother KNEW that she was the only support for the children and chose to have them as a single mother. So, I agree, no benefits.
It's sad for a lot of reasons but I agree with the decision. I wouldn't be comfortable telling her that, but I do agree with their decision and reasoning.
