Hello unomarmar57, and Welcome to Websleuths!

I have not seen any information about volunteer searches, but you can call Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office at (218) 998-8555 to check.

It seems that the local media is not taking scottards disaperance serious there was the inital report and no followup done. Could it be they think because he "hung out with a tough crowd" he isnt warrated the time or space??

RIP scott we love you and pray they find the person or persons that killed you!!

Michael Alan Burris pleaded not guilty Thursday in the murder of his nephew. He’s also claiming self defense and intoxication were factors, according to a notice of defense filed Thursday...

Also at issue Thursday was a motion from defense attorneys Tracy Mitchell and John Schmid to suppress evidence obtained as the result of two search warrants executed in July 2012 at Michael Alan Burris’ house...

He remains in the Otter Tail County Jail on $1 million bail, set previously.

Two years after the death of Scott Burris, witnesses begin testifying in the trial of his uncle, Michael Alan Burris, including the man who found the body.

Bryce Albertson who was one of the witnesses in the trial said, "I was being kind of a prankster and pushed one of my friends into a down tree and that down tree happened to be the one that was containing the body."

Medical Examiners confirmed it was Scott Burris, killed with a shotgun wound to the back of his ear.

A former Fergus Falls man accused of killing his nephew over a drug debt has decided to enter a guilty plea, bring his trial to an abrupt halt.

Michael Alan Burris pleaded guilty Thursday to second-degree unintentional murder. The 66-year-old Burris testified he and his nephew, Scott Burris, had an argument the day he was killed in May of 2012. Burris says that Scott picked up his uncle's gun and pointed it at him. Burris says when Scott put the gun down, he picked it up and fatally shot his nephew.
