Defense: Shooting suspect was seeing psychiatrist
DENVER (AP) — Court papers say the former graduate student accused in the Colorado movie theater shooting was being treated by a psychiatrist at the university where he studied.
The revelation was disclosed Friday in a defense motion. The motion sought to discover the source of leaks to some media outlets that a package that James Holmes sent the psychiatrist contained a notebook with descriptions of an attack.
The motion says the package contained communications between Holmes and his psychiatrist that should be shielded from public view.

The shooting suspect in the Colorado theater rampage was seeing a university psychiatrist specializing in schizophrenia in the weeks before the July 20 attack, according to court records released Friday.
James Holmes was seeing Lynne Fenton, the director of student mental health services at the University of Colorado and a medical school professor. Holmes was a first-year graduate student in a neuroscience Ph.D. program....
Holmes’s lawyers at the public defender’s office have asked the judge overseeing the case to find out who leaked information to the media about the notebook and its contents, arguing that Holmes’ privacy and constitutional rights have been violated.
Fenton, medical director of the counseling facility, has written numerous papers and launched research in the area of schizophrenia. She did not respond to calls to her home and office.

The documents reveal that Holmes was under the psychiatric care of Dr. Lynne Fenton

JH was sitting down with his defense team.
He still looked scruffy. Still unshaven.
Didn't look as dazed. Seemed to look at judge, when judge spoke. Looking around. Looking at the gallery a little bit.

Some of the family members looked at JH. Some were crying.

Next hearings

AUG 9th: (afternoon) talk about unsealing of documents
& a status hearing on privilege argument of the notebook

Aug 16th hearing on the privilege of the notebook (?)

Prosecution agreed to get all the evidence and surveillance regarding the package to the defense.

Hearing lasted 45 minutes.

Here's the Student Health Plan PDF file from the school - might be helpful :)
Tells you coverage of their student insurance, etc..

http://www.ucdenver.edu/life/services/student-health/Documents/AMC_StdntHlthBroch.pdf

and they can continue this insurance up to 6 months more eventhough they are no longer students... if JH continued this coverage , had psychiatric abandonement then things are going to be more uglier...

CONTINUATION OF COVERAGE
If a Covered Student is no longer an Eligible Person under
the Policy, he or she has the right to exercise the option
to continue coverage for up to 6 months beginning on the
date coverage would otherwise terminate. When the
Covered Student chooses to exercise this right, his or her
written request and the appropriate premium must be
received by the Company within 31 days following the
date coverage under the Policy terminates. In no event
will this option to continue coverage be extended beyond
the number of months initially requested. Continuation of
coverage will be subject to the terms and conditions of
the Policy in effect on the date the Covered Student
becomes eligible under this option.

Some reports suggested he couldn't find work, while others have suggested he could. The New York Daily News reported that Holmes worked at McDonald's.

But according to McDonald's, that's not true. "Based on our information, the individual has never been employed by a company-owned or franchised McDonald's restaurant," company spokeswoman Julie Pottebaum said in an email.
