While leaving a voice mail in June for a recently estranged girlfriend, Randy Macedo unwittingly renewed interest in a 4-year-old missing-person case and brought scrutiny upon himself.

In that June 7 phone call, documented in court records, he put the phone aside and yelled at his 7-year-old daughter to "put the gun down" before resuming the message.

The voice mail set in motion a series of revelations that detectives say they hope will finally shed light on what happened to another ex-girlfriend of Macedo's, Regina Garcia.
Garcia was 33 when Macedo, the father of her sixth child, reported her missing in October 2008. She has not been heard from since.

Why is her race listed as Hispanic?

I was a high school friend of Regina's. I only learned of her disappearance last night from a mutual friend and have become very interested in the case.

She is listed as Hispanic because she is Hispanic. Not all Hispanics have dark skin and dark hair.

Sad there are no updates and no closure on this case.

I'm a resident of Sacramento, and disappearances are generally solved pretty quickly here. So I thought it was weird that a good handful of women have gone missing under suspicious circumstances in Sacramento since 1999. Maybe there's a connection?

They know the boyfriend murdered her. They just don't know where she was buried. They dug up his yard years later but no luck.

I'm curious whether she has any of her children following up with these groups? Are any of Regina's family out there? If so please reply. I need to speak to you. Thank you.

Are you still following this? Do you know her family personally? I have solid info re this mp and where she can be found and have made attempts to give the info to the detective but to no avail. I think maybe if the family press on them to act on it and bring Regina's family closure and her home. Can you relay this to the family? If they reach back I will give my# for a direct convo so I can share the details of what I was told by a good friend who had helped her on many occasions, including the day she went missing when he finally talked her into going back to NM and getting cleaned up. Then come back for her young daughter. I was told that she told my friend she had to go home and get a few things and kiss her daughter, she couldn't just leave. She was never seen again. There were 4 person's who knew what happened, who done it, where she's buried(thought to be) and 1 of them recently passed away. That inspired my friend to divulge facts that he knew of and witnessed, to me. Including where she will be found. My friend, being in real bad health, knew he didn't have long left and wanted my promise to share what I miss know, which I won't stop until she's found. My friend, Vernon, passed away six days ago. I'm stil awaiting for detective to call me back, at very least.

Details of Disappearance​

Garcia was last seen in Sacramento, California on October 16, 2008. Her live-in boyfriend, Randy Macedo, said she rode her bicycle away from their home on Stewart Road and never returned. She left behind her Social Security card, Medi-Cal card and health insurance card. Macedo reported her missing on October 30.

Garcia has six children; Macedo is the father of the youngest. She lost custody of the other five due to her drug use, and her sister was caring for them.

She had dropped out of sight in the past, but had always returned home after a short time period. Following her October 2008 disappearance, she was never heard from again.

In 2012, authorities searched Macedo's home in response to an unrelated incident and found various illegal weapons, and he was arrested. His arrest revived the investigation into Garcia's disappearance, and investigators realized there were inconsistencies in his account of what happened. Seven weeks later they returned to the home to search for evidence in Garcia's case, including her body.

Macedo has a history of violent behavior, and in the 1990s he was sentenced to four years in prison for violating a restraining order and making threats towards his ex-wife. His relationship with Garcia was troubled, and he's considered the prime suspect in her disappearance. However, he has never faced charges in connection with it and maintains his innocence.

Although Garcia was originally considered to be missing voluntarily, foul play is now suspected in her disappearance. Since she went missing she hasn't had any contact with social service agencies or law enforcement, which is uncharacteristic of her. Her case remains unsolved.
