Police Ask for Help Solving A.C. Cold Case of Missing Woman

New Jersey State Police are asking for your help solving a 25-year-old missing persons case in Atlantic City.

Patricia Depunte has been missing since St. Patrick’s Day 1990, after a night of celebrating in Atlantic City.

Depunte is described as being an outgoing person, who was single and occasionally drank heavily, but always kept in regular contact with her family and it would have been uncharacteristic for her to leave without warning.

Her family has asked that this case be re-opened, as they hope that this may be a time when someone with knowledge of Patty’s disappearance may come forward.

I suppose she could have been an early victim of the Eastbound Strangler although there's 16 year gap. Perhaps he could have been incarcerated for another crime during that period. All those victims were white women between 19 and 42. Only a slim chance, I admit.

I found this I had not seen before.. Found in Brooklyn in Aug 1990 . I have not found any more information on who the man was or anything on the clothing or car.. but Thought Maybe Patricia DePunte?

Patricia, known as Patty, was a local beautician at the former Jean's Beauty Salon on Illinois Ave. She grew up in Pleasantville and attended Pleasantville High School.

Depunte went to the Irish Pub on St. James Place near the Boardwalk to celebrate St. Patrick's Day on March 17th, 1990.

At around 11pm she reportedly met and left with a Caucasian male in his early 30's. The man dropped her off at about 3am at Pacific and Mt. Vernon Ave. or Illinois Ave. in a hard rain, 3 blocks south of the Irish Pub.

The man, who was married, has been identified and his car was impounded with a forensic inspection.

While at the Irish Pub, Patty was seen talking with other make and female patrons. She was late seen arguing with two females while sitting with the male.

She apparently asked the male for a ride home. Patricia has not been seen since.

The Irish Pub is a popular place for the locals; maybe even more so than with tourists or casino visitors. It’s a 24 hour town. It’s not a fancy place really but has a happy, homey vibe to it. Relaxed setting, somewhat dark interior. Probably crowded that night with all types since it was St Patty’s celebrations going on.

The surrounding neighborhood streets are a bit rough. Lots of ne’er do wells, especially in the wee hours.

I would think some of the regulars & locals may know something.....

This strikes me as really odd...if this man took the trouble to drive her home, why did he drop her off 1/2 block from her apartment? Why not to her door? Sounds suspicious to me.
