Andrew L. 'Buck' Lake - April 16, 2004

ELMA - Andrew Leroy "Buck" Lake, who had lived in Elma for two years, died Friday, April 16, 2004, at his home. He was 55.

Mr. Lake was born Aug. 22, 1948, in Elma to Floyd and Leona (Hunter) Lake.

He grew up in Yakima, where he and his family lived in a one-room cabin on a labor camp. He remembered the long lines waiting to use the outhouse. He didn't like to go to school and would often skip class and catch frogs, selling them to Chinese restaurants.

When he was 15, he moved to California and married a girl he knew from the third grade. They later divorced.

He and his father bought and sold goats, cattle and horses, which sparked his interest in riding horses, bulls and bucking broncos. He also did some barrel racing.

Mr. Lake worked with his brother framing houses for a while, then began building trucks and trailers. He was also a truck driver for 20 years, hauling hay and produce.

In 2002, he moved to McCleary to live with his sister. He later met Ann Foster, and they married March 13, 2003, in Elma. She survives him at their home.

Other survivors include two sons, Michael of Las Vegas, Nev., and Buck of Tacoma; four daughters, Trisann in Florida, Missy of Tacoma, Amy in Idaho and Laura of Yakima; two brothers, Del in Oregon and Gene, address unavailable, <-----Is this the Unclaimed, could the E. be for Eugene? and a sister, Shirley Tinecani of McCleary.

A graveside inurnment service is planned for 1 p.m. Friday, April 23, in Hoquiam's Sunset Memorial Park.

Arrangements are by the Whiteside Family Mortuary in Elma. Friends are invited to share memories at www.whitesidefamilymortuaries.com and sign the family's online guestbo
