Anybody have any ideas or tips to find out if a missing person last cashed a check? Detective states unless they can prove somebody is deceased they are not given that information.

If they are on SSI they most likely have a debit/credit card. If you have the account number and pin you can call 1888 741 1115 and put those numbers in when a recording asks for it. Use the prompts to check transactions. I do not think it would be illegal to do this if you are just checking info but you might want to find out to be sure.
Most SSI is going the way of cards due to checks being easily stolen. I do not know about SSDI or what to do in case of a check, except contact the SS office in your town and explain the situation. They may try to help in case of fraud.
