Hunt intensifies for 2 men in chained teen case
Nova Scotia boy allegedly confined, sexually assaulted in home

Police believe suspects could be driving one of two vehicles:

A 2003 grey Hyundai Elantra, licence plate FBP 233.
A 2002 brown Chevy Venture, licence plate EZG 581.

The mother of one of two Nova Scotia men accused of forcibly confining and sexually assaulting a teenage boy is pleading with him to turn himself in.

Violet Leblanc's son, David James Leblanc, is the focus of a major investigation after a boy in chains escaped from a house in Upper Chelsea.

It's alleged Leblanc, 47, and Wayne Alan Cunningham, 31, held the boy against his will.

As RCMP in Nova Scotia continue their search for two men, the man who says he helped the victim is telling his story.

TF was in his Upper Chelsea home Monday when he heard a knock on the back door just after 7 p.m. F said a young man was outside.

"He was obviously in distress," he said. "I thought he had been in an accident because he didn't know where he was. I thought he had amnesia."

F said the boy was dressed in just a hooded sweatshirt and a hat.

'When I saw the chains, quite frankly, I got very, very angry.'

"He said he had been held by two men for two weeks."

F let him in the house and asked how he could help.

"He said, 'Do you have bolt cutters?' Then he showed me. He had been hiding them. He had chains on his wrists and his ankles."

Frauzel said he was stunned when he realized what was going on, and became angry that anyone would do that to a teenager. He said the chains were loose enough that the boy was able to walk more than one kilometre to Frauzel's home.

"But one of the chains was really, really tight around the wrist. He said that was because he had escaped before and this time they really wanted to make sure he couldn't get the chains off."

Frauzel's wife went to get the boy clothes while he cut the chains off. Frauzel clearly remembers the boy's reaction when the chains came off.

"Once I cut him free, he was so grateful. He said, 'I'm finally free of those things.'"

On Monday evening, residents in Upper Chelsea, about an hour west of Lunenburg, reported seeing a barefoot boy clad only in a hat and jacket moving from house to house looking for help.

Although the two men have had several days’ head start, police have confined the search area to a radius of only a few hundred kilometres around Upper Chelsea.

“The accused could be in Lunenburg or Halifax County, but we don’t know for sure,” said Sgt. Leblanc.

THIS ticks me off even more. :furious:

Of late, Leblanc had re-entered police crosshairs as an accused child pornographer. In January 2011, acting on a tip from the RCMP’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit, police searched Leblanc’s Dartmouth apartment and allegedly found his computer filled with pictures of a naked two- and five-year-old from Southwestern Nova Scotia.

In November, Leblanc is scheduled to face a preliminary inquiry on 10 child *advertiser censored* and sexual assault charges. He has remained free on orders to stay away from children or devices that could connect to the Internet.

An unidentified neighbour interviewed by the Halifax Chronicle Herald suspected his wife may have encountered the boy one week ago while out for a walk. He said she had come upon a boy who did not know where he was, asked directions to Bridgewater and claimed he was going to hitchhike to Halifax.

Later, while watching the boy from afar, she noticed he dove into the bushes every time a car passed.

Tuesday, forensic units arrived at 174 Faulkner, the small cottage where the boy allegedly had been confined. Located off a gravel road connecting to Route 210, the non-descript address is in a small community peppered with summer cottages and horse stables.

The two accused had only just moved into the home within the past month, neighbours told local media.

The address once acted as the headquarters for MDK Vacuum Services, a vacuum cleaner parts supplier.

F said the boy told him he willingly got into a car in Bridgewater that the two men were in but had no idea what he was in for.

The boy said he escaped Monday night by punching out a couple of boards in a window at the dilapidated home at 174 Faulkner Rd. His captors were out.

The gravel road in Upper Chelsea is about 25 kilometres west of Bridgewater.

The boy first ran through the bushes and woods in bare feet to AA’s house.

Arnold was in her kitchen cooking when she heard the gate on her deck bang, followed by a frantic knocking on her door at about 7:15 p.m. Monday.

She opened the inner door, but not the screen door, to see an embarrassed teenage boy wearing nothing but a hoodie and chains around his wrists and ankles.

“It was a startling event. He asked to come in, but I said, ‘No, I’ll call 911.’ And he said, ‘Don’t call the police. It’ll make it worse for me.’ He looked terrified.”

The boy ran off and Arnold said she feels terrible she didn’t let the boy into her home, but she is grateful he is safe.

AA also credited the RCMP with quickly responding to her call.

F said the boy wasn’t hungry or thirsty by the time he got the victim to his house. He described the boy as clean and “very polite.”

This is infuriating! Child *advertiser censored* found in possession of perp and they just tell him to stay away from children and internet connections? Like they could trust him to do so? And if a neighbor lady suspects she saw this boy a week ago, not knowing where he was and ducking into the bushes, WHY didn't she contact LE to investigate? Ugghh!!! So glad he got away and found help!!!

This poor kid ... So thankful that he escaped and is now safe. Who knows what could have happened to him had he not been able to.

I hope these evil POSs are caught soon

disgusting pigs!

a homeless 16 year old has probably already been through too much in his life, and now he has this added trauma

I hope he can find a way to be grateful for at least being alive and begin to heal

THIS ticks me off even more. :furious:

Yep ... i hope that judge feels like a creep now, knowing what happened to this young boy too. I'm real tired of the alleged criminals having more rights than innocent kids.

Pictures of the cars here:

Alain also said the brown 2002 Chevrolet Venture van with N.S. licence plate EZG 581 was found in Nova Scotia, but he could not confirm where the vehicle was found.

"[The] suspects may be in Ontario, driving the Elantra," he said Thursday afternoon. "Our focus is now on the province of Ontario.

We continue to let these freaks out and then waste time, money and resources hunting them down. I just don't get it. Lock them up and throw away the key. They're useless .

Accused have history
Both accused have criminal records.

They were convicted in Bridgewater in November 2006 of theft, breaking and entering, fraud, forgery and possession of stolen property.

Wayne Alan Cunningham was convicted of theft in 2006 along with David Leblanc. RCMPDavid James Leblanc currently faces charges of making and distributing child *advertiser censored*, sexual assault and sexual interference involving two boys aged two and five.

The allegations span several months and communities: July 5, 2010, in Dartmouth; June 1-Aug. 31, 2010, in Liverpool; Sept. 1-Dec. 1, 2010, in Lequille, Annapolis County.
