    In Florida she would be required to serve 85 percent of her sentence. Too bad Texas doesn't have that law.

    It is disgusting that she will be released after only 9 years. Emma will never be released, she is gone forever.

    She will not have another parole hearing. She will be released in August 2018 unless she misbehaves in prison. It is an automatic thing, release at her serve all date.

    Remembering Emma Thompson . . . 6/27/15

    Remembering Emma Thompson . . .

    Six years ago today, 6/27/15, Emma Thompson flew up to Heaven on the wings of an angel. She was barely 4 years old.

    Emma was a victim of sexual child abuse by her mother's (Abigail Young) then boyfriend, Lucas Coe.

    On 6/27/09, Lucas Coe sexually assaulted and beat Emma to death. Emma sustained horrific injuries. She died a brutal, horrific, painful death. (per Lucas Coe's trial testimony in Houston, Harris County, TX in September, 2010).

    In September, 2010, Lucas Coe was convicted and found guilty, as charged, of super aggravated sexual assault of a child under age 6.

    The heightened charge meant Coe would NOT be eligible for parole if convicted. He was convicted and found guilty as charged. Coe was sentenced to Life Without Parole and will NEVER be paroled!

    Justice for Emma Thompson prevails!

    In July 2010, Abigail Young, Emma's mother, was found guilty of reckless serious bodily injury to a child by omission. She was sentenced to 20 years in state prison which is the maximum sentence for that charge.

    Jurors actually convicted Young of the lesser of two possible charges. If they had been convinced that Young, a Registered Nurse, “intentionally or knowingly” failed to protect her daughter, she could have faced a life sentence.

    It is unfortunate Young was not found guilty of the more serious charge. The consolation is that she was found guilty and sentenced to 20 years in state prison.

    Justice for Emma prevails!

    A few months after Abigail Young's trial, one of the jurors contacted me. She was horrified that Abigail Young was up for parole after serving only a few months of a 20 year sentence. She said she regrets not being the "hold out" and finding Young guilty of the more serious charge.

    Today .. . . Lucas Coe continues to serve his Life WITHOUT Parole sentence at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice - McConnell Unit in Beeville, TX. He will spend the rest of his life in state prison!

    Abigail Young, after two denied parole reviews, continues to serve her 20 year sentence at Texas Department of Criminal Justice - Christina Melton Crain Unit in Gatesville, TX. Her next parole review is in 2018.

    Emma is gone, but she will never, ever be forgotten by her family and the many friends and supporters who sought justice for precious Emma Thompson. Rest in peace, Emma . . . precious child of God!

    In Loving Memory of precious Emma Thompson . . .

    Emma, it has been 6 years that you left this earth and flew to Heaven on the wings of an angel.

    I know that you are.. . .safe in Heaven . . . and no one will ever hurt you again.

    You are now in God's loving care and one of God's sweetest, most beautiful little angels.

    Walk hand in hand with Jesus, precious Emma .. . . .

    And fly and soar high with the angels in Heaven!

    You are gone . . .. but you will never, ever be forgotten!

    Another law to aid the Texas Board of Pardons & Paroles - 2015

    The following post was made my Laurie Thompson, Emma Thompson's paternal grandmother, on Justice For Emma Thompson facebook page.

    Special thanks to Laurie Thompson for this very important update.

    Governor Abbott is our current Governor Greg Abbott of Texas.

    ~~~~~
    POST BY LAURIE THOMPSON:
    Today (6/27/15) at 2:09pm
    .
    HB 3387 was signed into law by Governor Abbott last week. This bill gives the parole board discretion to assign sex offender conditions to anyone being considered for release whose crime contributed to or was complicit in the commissioning of sexual injury or sexual assault. It is one more measure to protect children, the elderly and/or disabled from sexual predators or those with a proven track record enabling sexual predators. It is a recognition that they cannot be trusted to be near children, the elderly or disabled in the greater community. It will hopefully prevent these released offenders from having access to living arrangements, schools, hospitals, clinics, day care centers, school buses & any kind of employment that can bring them into contact with those at greatest risk. It is now in effect and ready for consideration in 2018.
    Hello toetag,
    I found a handy dandy booklet at:
    http://tdcj.state.tx.us/divisions/parole/index.html
    Scroll down to Parole in Texas and it will link you to the booklet.
    In the Table of Contents on pgs.61-62 under RELEASE AND SUPERVISION it says:
    Offenders not eligible for Mandatory Supervision, those serving a sentence for a violent offense as listed in Section 508.149(a) of the Texas Government Code, are subject to, up to a five-year set off. See the following.
    Government Code §508.149(a) offenses include:
    Injury to a Child or Elderly, Individual or Disabled Individual, 1st Degree
    Aggravated Kidnapping
    Arson, 1st Degree
    Aggravated Sexual Assault
    Robbery, 2nd Degree
    Aggravated Robbery
    Burglary- Resulting in Bodily Injury, 1st Degree
    Any Offense with an Affirmative Finding of a
    A Felony Increased Under Health and
    Safety Code (Drug-Free Zones)
    Deadly Weapon
    Murder, 1st Degree
    Injury to Disabled Individual
    Sexual Assault, 2nd Degree
    Indecency with a Child, 2nd Degree
    Aggravated Assault, 1st and 2nd Degree
    Murder, 2nd Degree
    Continuous Sexual Abuse of Young Child
    Capital Murder
    Sexual Performance by a Child
    Criminal Solicitation of Capital Murder or A felony of first degree
    Continuous Trafficking of a Person
    Compelling Prostitution
    Trafficking of Persons
    Continuous Sexual Abuse of Young Child or Children
    What if parole is denied?
    If an offender is denied parole, he or she is given either a Serve-All (SA) or a Next Review (NR) date.
    NR vote means that the parole panel has decided the offender is not ready for parole but that a subsequent review should be conducted at a specified future date within one to five years for offenders serving a sentence listed in §508.149(a), Government Code, and one year for an offender not serving a sentence under §508.149(a) Government Code.
    Serve-All vote means that the offender is not considered ready for parole and that no future parole reviews will be scheduld. A Serve-All may only be given to offenders who have less than five years until their discharge or scheduled release to mandatory supervision if serving a sentence listed in §508.149(a), Government Code and one year for offenders not serving sentences listed in §508.149(a), Government Code.
    If reconsideration of an SR or NR decision is requested by an offender based on new information previously unavailable to the parole panel, then the offender’s file and the new information may be presented for “Special Review” to the parole panel. The Special Review Panel will determine whether the new information is pertinent to the parole decision and whether the case should be returned to the original parole panel for a re-vote. Special Reviews are not commonly granted.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~

    Set Off is an informal term for Next Review Date.

    I was told by someone at the Victim's Division that Serve-All meant that Young would be released on 8/16/2018 but as you can see from the link below 8/16/2018 is her NEXT PAROLE REVIEW DATE.

    http://offender.tdcj.state.tx.us/Off...GAIL+ELIZABETH

    Serve-All does not mean that Young will not have to go before a Parole Board Review before she is released. There are variables that can effect her release, like breaking of rules and if enough letters are sent to protest her release. So keep checking the link above. I was told she will be on review 6mo. before her release date (per the Victim's Division). So there is still hope that she can be kept in until 2030, with the use of Emma's Law.

    Respectfully Texas Tuff

    2014 FOX26 News - Houston, TX: Interviews about the facts in Emma Thompson's case

    I have posted several things today, 6/27/16, regarding Emma Thompson, to my Facebook 'timeline'.

    For those who do Facebook, here is the Link:

    https://www.facebook.com/ann.davids.3
    Facebook - Ann Davids

    For those who do not do Facebook, I would like to copy and paste one of the posts I posted to my Facebook timeline today re a most informative interview by Katie McCall, a Reporter/Anchor with Fox26 News - Houston, TX (2014). This interview video is posted at WS 'up thread'.

    Even though many of you have already seen it in 2014, I think today is most appropriate to post it again.

    June 27, 2016 is the date Emma Thompson was officially pronounced dead at the Emergency Room of a hospital in The Woodlands, TX.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I posted the following to my Facebook timeline this morning, 6/27/16:
    EMMA THOMPSON'S STORY FEATURED ON Fox26 - Houston, TX
    --- 2014
    An exceptional news report by Katie McCall - Reporter/Anchor . .. . . the missed opportunities to save precious Emma Thompson that failed because of Abigail Young's (Emma Thompson's mother) many lies!
    .......
    A great re-cap of the facts and the changes in Texas law due to Emma Thompson's brutal, horrific rape and murder.
    On November 6, 2014, Emma Thompson's story was featured on FOX26 News - Houston, TX.
    I think Katie McCall, who was a Reporter/Anchor for FOX 26 News-Houston, TX in 2014 did an exceptional job of telling the facts and interviewing Amanda Mathews, Emma Thompson's maternal aunt and Abigail Young's sister.
    Katie McCall also interviewed Colleen Barnett, the Lead Prosecutor in the trials of Abigail Young (Emma Thompson's mother) and Lucas Coe (Young's boyfriend at the time of Emma's brutal rape and murder.) It should be noted that Young and Coe had separate trials in 2010. Colleen Barnett and her assistant prosecutor, did an exceptional job of presenting Emma Thompson's case to the jury and Court. Thanks to Colleen and her assistant for getting the convictions and sentences for Lucas Coe and Abigail Young . . .. their presentation of the facts was critical in this case!
    This interview aired on the FOX26 News at 9 pm on 11/6/14 and was uploaded to YouTube by Amanda Mathews on 11/7/14.
    Special thanks to Amanda Mathews and Colleen Barnett for their interview and letting the public know the facts.
    ***
    Katie McCall was a Reporter/Anchor with KTRK (ABC) - Houston, TX at the time of Emma's death (2009) and the trials of Abigail Young and Lucas Coe (2010). Katie did an exceptional job of covering Emma's story during that time.
    Special thanks to Katie McCall for covering Emma's tragic death and the trials of Abigail Young and Lucas Coe.
    The media attention brought awareness to the facts and without a doubt, it garnered support for justice for Emma Thompson . . . . . .. as evidenced by the thousands from all over the world who supported 'justice for Emma Thompson.'
    Katie McCall is now an Anchor/Reporter in Tampa, FL. Katie, we miss you! Please come back to Houston, TX soon!
    Abigail Young is up for PAROLE review!
    ABIGAIL YOUNG IS UP FOR PAROLE REVIEW!
    ABIGAIL YOUNG, the mother of precious Emma Thompson, is up for PAROLE REVIEW! I am hoping many Websleuth members will write the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles (TBPP) opposing her parole.
    I will provide required info, when writing TBPP, later. Hopefully, this afternoon or tomorrow for sure!
    To a Websleuth MOD: Do you think a new thread should be started?
    ~~~~~

    I received a notification from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Victim Services Division, via E-mail, this morning, 2/14/18.

    I will snip pertinent info from the e-mail:

    2/14/2018

    RE: Offender YOUNG, ABIGAIL, State ID# 08428403, TDCJ# 01668233

    The Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) Parole Division is processing this offender's case for mandatory review by the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles on 2/13/2018. The purpose of this review is for the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles to decide whether or not to release the offender on 8/16/2018, the projected release date. The review process is normally completed within two to six months. As soon as the Board has reached a decision, we will notify you. The projected discharge date is 7/10/2030.

    In rare instances, due to the Ex Parte Retzlaff court decision, an offender being released to mandatory supervision may be released without a Board vote. Further information regarding Retzlaff cases may be obtained by visiting our website at http://www.tdcj.texas.gov/divisions/...retzlaff.html.

    We acknowledge how difficult it may be for you to write about the effects of this crime. You may submit any letters, newspaper clippings, or photographs that would help the Board of Pardons and Paroles understand how the offense has affected you. In order to ensure the Board receives your input prior to voting the case, we ask that you respond as soon as possible and reference the TDCJ or State Identification Number (SID) when submitting material. If you are a victim, the guardian of a victim, or a close relative of a deceased victim, please inform others with an interest in this offender's consideration for release.

    Request from Laurie Kuderna Thompson re Abigail Young parole review

    Sharing from Laurie Kuderna Thompson's Facebook timeline. She is the paternal grandmother of precious Emma Thompson.

    Please read Laurie's post. Please write a letter and e-mail per the instructions in Laurie's post.

    The following is the post by Laurie Kuderna Thompson:

    Attention all FB Friends! I desperately need your help right away.

    I just received a notice from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice that Abigail Elizabeth Young, the convicted accomplice in the beating, sexual assault and murder of my 4 year-old- granddaughter is being considered for parole this summer!! It is essential that we let the Parole Bd know we VEHEMENTLY oppose her release. She received a 20-year sentence and $10,000 fine and has served LESS THAN 8 YEARS of her sentence. Emma did NOT get a second chance at life.

    Please e-mail your letters of protest to the following address: victim.svc@tdcj.state.tx.us Your protest letter does not need to be lengthy but it MUST include her name and ID numbers: Abigail Elizabeth Young, TDCJ# 01668233, State ID# 08428403

    Every member of the Parole Board reviewing this case is required by law to read every piece of correspondence they receive. Please ask your friends, spouses, classmates, colleagues, church groups, to each send a short e-mail protesting her release! The more letters, the better the chance we have of getting her parole denied. The last time she was considered for parole, they received thousands of letters - some from Europe, Canada and Australia. You do NOT have to be a resident of Texas to send a protest letter!!

    Her last parole was denied in 2013 when we successfully convinced the Parole Bd to set her parole consideration back 5 years. She has demonstrated no remorse, continues to portray herself as a victim in the process, has been treated for known drug issues, and has no respect or regard for the constraints of common decency or law. She apparently cannot even conform to the minimal expectations of prison life since she has lost visitation privileges over 25 times just since May, 2017! PLEASE HELP! Private message me with any questions. Thanks!

    Here are two links from the time of the trial:

    I have sent my email

    WARNING EMAIL CONTAINS GRAPHIC CONTENT OF EMMA'S INJURIES....

    Reference: Young, Abigail

    State ID: 08428403

    TDCJ ID: 01668233

    Placed on Parole Review: 4/30/13

    I am a UK citizen, who lives in Canada, a criminologist and a mother to 3 daughters. I respectfully ask that you deny Abigail Young parole. Having followed the crime that Abigail Young committed against her four year old daughter, Emma Thompson in 2009, I strongly feel that Young does not deserve to be released at this time.
    Young allowed her daughter to be repeatedly raped and ultimately murdered by her boyfriend, Lucas Coe. Coe had a history of abuse, child abuse and drug abuse. In fact Coe had been investigated no less than 3 separate times with regards to child abuse allegations. Young’s maternal instinct should have been to protect her children from this man, instead she left her children in Coe’s custody while she was away from the house. Where were her maternal alarm bells? Why would she feel that Coe was a suitable person to have around her children? What made Young feel that her daughter was safe with his individual?
    Young was in a position as a mother to advocate for her daughter, to protect her from Coe, to ensure she lived a safe and happy life. As a nurse, she should have had an inbuilt desire to protect and nurture her child. However when Emma was taken to a doctor with genital herpes in her mouth and genital area Young did NOTHING. In fact Young managed to convince authorities that the child had not been sexually abused despite the presence of genital herpes. When Emma died the Medical Examiner found three broken ribs in various stages of healing, a fracture to her skull, injuries to her pancreas, severe hemorrhaging and tearing to her vagina that would have required stitches to heal, evidence of sexual trauma to her vaginal area that suggested that Emma had been violated within the past 24 hours preceding her death, and also evidence of older injuries to her vaginal area, and over 80 bruises on her little four year old body. Emma died from blunt force trauma to her abdomen.
    Instead of ensuring that her child was safe, Young continued to lie and asking others, including her two other children, to lie, by denying that Coe lived in the house, by telling a neighbour who saw blood on Emma’s panties that Emma had scratched her vaginal area on a swimming pool, telling them that Emma’s injuries had occurred due to her falling out of her bed or by running into furniture. Even as her child was receiving treatment from EMS, Young lied saying that Emma had a UTI and had passed out after having an “abnormally large bowel movement”. Young even became belligerent when asked why her car was parked facing the opposite direction from the hospital. A Sheriff's officer was told by Young that Emma had vomited in the car, yet no evidence of vomit was found by the officer. Despite the fact that her child was being abused to the point of dying, Young at no point provide even the basic maternal care for her daughter. While strangers and EMS workers were trying to revive Emma, Young stood talking on her cell phone such was her disregard for Emma’s life. She had ample opportunity over a period of time to remove Coe from her daughters’ lives and yet not only did she simply not do this, she also acted in ways to allow Coe’s abuse of this beautiful child to continue, and this led to the tragic, horrific, brutal death of a precious child.
    Emma would have looked to Young to be the person to protect her. At four years old, not even in school yet, Emma did not have the capability to protect herself from Coe, or even verbalize what was happening to her. Family members and friends stated that they noticed changes in Emma, that she appeared sad, in pain, bruised, and yet Young did not? I am a mother myself, and my instinct would be to firstly to not allow an individual like Coe into mine or my children’s lives, but secondly, if I had any suspicion that Coe was hurting my child in any way, I would remove him from my child’s life. That is, I believe what a normal parent would do.
    Young was sentenced to 20 years in prison. She has not even served half that term. She has shown no remorse for her inaction to protect her child, or the actions that led up to allowing Coe to repeatedly rape and physically abuse Emma until she died. The death of Emma Thompson has impacted not only her family, who are still suffering from the horrific loss of this precious child, but also impacted many people worldwide who feel that Emma was so miserably failed by Young and who have shed so many tears over the brutal torture that this baby endured.
    Texas has a duty to show that it will not allow its children to live and die like this. Young deserves to serve every single day of her 20 year sentence in prison. I implore you to not grant Young parole and to ensure that justice for Emma Thompson is served.
    Yours sincerely,
    Blef is back....back again...Blef is back....Call a friend
