For Jessica and any future victims, we need this guy off the streets. I think one thing Westminster PD is not putting out there but is obvious, kids and small statured adults are not safe. We need this guy caught!

I posted this in the last thread: I think they could have found the cross in the backpack. Trevor really seemed to imply that they are confident the cross is involved with Jessica's investigation (but he didn't specifically say it) and being in the backpack would be an obvious way (though probably not the only way) of being sure it's related to Jessica.

I think what they are saying about the two incidents is - we have a description in the Ketner Lake abduction and we have this cross associated with what happened to Jessica. Those two things together, if they go together, just might give us a better chance of identifying the perp.

Just want to give a shout-out to LE involved in this case. Watching the officer that gave the information about the possible connection to the cross was like looking into a mirror - dark circles under the eyes, exhausted and weighted down with the sheer AWFUL nature of this case. Difficult stuff.... Here is my set of pictures of the wooden cross that is now being considered s 'evidence'. Where did they get it? (her backpack, IMHO).

LE folks really need support and respect. They just do the job and don't look for accolades or support but they are the best.

The cross is just another thing that is pointing me towards someone younger, as is the fact that they have DNA but no match.

Hi Chili!

I agree and I posted back in the last thread (#13) that I think the cross could have been in the backpack, or in a pocket in the backpack or in the pocket of her clothing in the backpack. For some reason LE needed to ask JR's parents if she had such an item (the cross). That implies the cross was with her things--something they can absolutely link to Jessica, versus found at the body recovery site.

Can I post Exif information on the photograph? This reveals the date it was taken, along with the time.

Im finally caught up. Everything that I had to say seems to be covered already. So thanks to past posters for saying what I wanted to bring up. Saved me from typing and my brain from really thinking. So nice to read that they must have DNA of Jessica's killer since they ruled out that Ari guy through DNA.

Ok, I think I am officially losing my mind, but this is driving me nuts.

I swear, the cross with the marks on it, I've seen or read about it before. A movie, a book, a tv series, another case, something? Anyone, does it ring a bell to anyone else? At this point I'm not sure if it's from something real or fictional, but it is absolutely driving me nuts. I've been looking for the last hour, but every key word search I come up with all brings me to Jessica's case.

That cross is incredibly tiny. 1 1/2" x 1"

I have googled everything I can think of. I thought I was losing my mind. I am thinking I must have read it in a book. I read so much. May have been a case, but I keep thinking I read it in a book.

Noting the "zig zag pattern" on the cross, if the perp put it on there with a carving object such as a key or a knife, by deduction, could the perp's first or last name start with an S? Maybe confirmation name is an S?

Doesn't ring any immediate bells but by now I've looked at every cross on the internet, and it most resembles, in its curious symmetry, a comfort cross. I've seen these in botanicas in San Antonio (an occult angle!) but also in flea markets and other places in S.A. Never have seen the markings though, like that. Since the Virgin of Guadalupe is a big deal down there, I've seen some with her picture at center.

But I don't feel the markings necessarily mean much. Interesting to speculate, though. Those three lines - a mark of the Trinity? or a trident?? etc. etc.
