Baltimore County police need help identifying 'John Doe' victim
Police believe man may be from Dundalk area

The Baltimore County Police Department said it needs the public's help with a cold case to identify a man whose body was found in the river over a year ago.

Officers were called to the Back River under the Interstate 695 Bridge for a report of a body in the water at 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 8, 2011. A witness told police the body had not been there early in the day. There were no signs of foul play and the body had been in the water for a significant period of time.

Police said despite a year of investigating, detectives have not been able to identify the victim through the autopsy, DNA or fingerprints. The cause of death remains undetermined.

A Baltimore County Police Department forensic artist has completed a skull reconstruction in an attempt to determine what the victim may look like. Police said forensic artists attempt to recreate the features as closely as possible, but some features of the victim may look slightly different.

Police said they are releasing the photographs to the public in the hope that can identify the victim and notify his next of kin.

The victim is described as a white man, 40 to 60 years old. Detectives said they believe he may be from the Dundalk area.

Anyone with information about the identity of the victim is asked to contact the Baltimore County Police Department at 410-307-2020.

emailed BCPD about MCC being possible match -- said they'd forward email to Det. working the UID case.

Well I guess my recommendation wasn't a match LOL

Here's his Namus page.

If anyone contacts this John Does case manager or whoever, can you ask them more specifics on the estimated date of death? It does say days on that page and
Not recognizable - Near complete or complete skeleton...

I get the feeling that whoever was assigned this case is not terribly experienced. it says days, near skeleton, yet spleen is missing (so they had to have had a body with the other organs to determine that only a spleen was missing) and whatever remains they had weighed 155 lbs. too heavy to be just a skeleton in my book. also it is said he had significant atherosclerosis, which is cholesterol deposits in his arteries. surely they had a much fresher body than a skeleton.

despite having this relatively fresh corpse, they did not note his hair color? even if he was bald, unless he had alopecia, there had to be hair somewhere on his body yet no one noted that or bothered to upload it to Namus.

they have a DNA sample that no one has bothered to submit yet, and the issue of fingerprints is a question mark. were they unobtainable or are they sitting in someone's file still?

there was no mention of clothing. does that mean there was a nude body in the water or did no one bother to inventory the clothing?

Also:
Subject was found floating in the Back River.
Skeletons don't tend to float.

Namus says "No clothing or accessories"
