I just wanted to note for others that I was looking at Karla's case in the news archives from May 2001.

There was some talk among the LE agencies that they were looking at Curtis Dean Anderson as possibly having something to do with Karla going missing.

I saw no followups on this so I assume that it was never determined or ruled out that he had responsibility.

Just wanted to note for those that follow the archived cases that this was seen, and I do not have links but excerpts can be seen if the month and year along with Karla's name is searched in google news archives.

Las Vegas detective compares unsolved 1999 missing person case to ‘a scar on your heart’

The little girl with a gap-toothed smile and wavy, brown hair vanished more than 13 years ago from her Las Vegas neighborhood — leaving behind a frantic family and questions haunting detectives to this day.

Her name is Karla Rodriguez. She was 7 years old.

Today, a black binder and six boxes full of photographs and case transcripts sit in a Metro Police building. They represent years of work and anguish that won’t subside until Rodriguez is located.

Thanks for posting. I remember when this happened, and I think about her often.

Detective Dan Holley is haunted by the disappearance of Karla Rodriguez in 1999.

Hi, thnx for this. Detective Holley sounds like he's pretty amazing. Thanks for this.

I also like this interview. I wish there were more "cold case" missing persons detectives around the country!

Hi, I was doing research on this case for a blog post and came across quite a few from the Las Vegas Sun archives, all available online (love when that happens! as opposed to having to pay for archived articles...)
I know the top 2 were already listed on this thread but I'm keeping the list as is:

Sincerely hoping there is a breakthrough on this case.

Long says a deputy chief, two detectives from the missing persons unit, and special agents from the FBI have since retired, but they agreed to return and help out.

“Those are the best eyes for this,” he says. “They are going to tell us what their feelings were … and then we’re going to chase everything down the best we can.”

Meanwhile, Karla’s parents have kept her favorite doll, her clothes and homework because these are the only memories they have of their daughter – for now.

Says Zepeda, “I know I’ll see her again.”

Call Metropolitan Police at 702-828-3521 with information about Karla Rodriguez.
