Endangered Missing

Darlene has a tattoo of the name "Chris" on her left wrist and the name "Fran" on her right wrist. She also has a tattoo of a red and green flower near her left thumb, a spider on her left middle finger, hands folded in prayer with a rosary and the phrase "Mi vida esta en sus manos" on her right shoulder, two angels on her upper right leg, a flowering vine on the back of her neck, and a large tattoo of red and green flowers on her lower left leg. Darlene has piercing scars on one of her lips and her right eyebrow.
Darlene was last seen in Albuquerque, New Mexico on July 4, 2001. She dropped her young son off at his grandmothers and asked her to watch him while she took a 2-day trip to Arizona. Darlene was accompanied by a Hispanic male known only as "Jorge" at the time.
Darlene never returned to Albuquerque. A week after she was last seen, her aunt reported her missing. Weeks after that, Jorge returned alone. He told her aunt that they went to Tucumcari instead. He said that they'd had a fight and Darlene left in the car. Jorge is wanted for questioning in her case, but he has not been located. Foul play is possible.

A New York Times article on the Albuquerque West Mesa murders mentions that Darlene's family said Jorge is a heroin dealer and likely abducted and took Darlene to Mexico. A family friend said that a man who claimed to have information regarding the case turned up murdered.
