Sarnia fire chief terminated over sex charges

http://www.theobserver.ca/2013/01/11/sarnia-dismisses-fire-chief

Sarnia Fire Chief Pat Cayen lost his job Thursday.

The city, in a statement released at noon Friday, announced it had terminated Cayen’s employment.

“Pending charges have compromised his ability to carry out his duties as chief of Sarnia Fire Rescue Service,” officials said in the release.

Cayen, 54, was charged in late 2012 with 28 counts of sexual assault, including 11 counts of sexual interference and four counts of invitation of touching for a sexual purpose.

Sarnia police have said the charges involve two alleged victims who were under the age of 16 at the time.

There goes his image up in flames. I hope he loses retirement pay, and any other benefits he may have accrued while he was "serving" as Fire Chief. Creep.

Glad they finally got him on these charges....sounds like this abuse had been going on for a while...28 charges for 2 victims who were under age 16 'at the time'........he certainly does not need to be in a position of authority.....

More sexual assault charges laid against former Sarnia Fire Chief

Sarnia's former fire chief is facing 26 new sex-related criminal offences.

Sarnia police report that Patrick Cayen, 54, was arrested Monday morning on the new charges, which are all sex-related and pre-date those already before the courts.

Three new alleged victims came forward as a result of the ongoing investigation.

He was released on conditions, which include having no contact with anyone under age 16. He will appear in court on Tuesday.

Cayen was initially arrested and charged in November with 28 counts of sexual assault, including 11 counts of sexual interference and four counts of invitation of touching for a sexual purpose.

A publication ban prohibits identifying the time frame, location of the offences and the identity of the victims.
