We presently have two suspects in custody. Neither of the two suspects are residents of Noble County. We believe the attempted murder of victim number one and the likely murder of victim number 2 are connect and possibly committed by the same person. … I will say this matter is still under investigation and other arrests are possible. The gambit of charges connected to this case could range from kidnapping and theft to murder and attempted murder.

Not being from the area really worries me that these people could have been doing this for a while in different locations!

Some stations reporting that it is the florida man but the actual sheriff's report says probably.

This one could very well end up in the serial killer forum

Two murder suspects held in Noble County

Authorities have a teenage male and an adult male in custody according to the Noble County Sheriff's Department.
http://www.woio.com/story/16069758/...in-connection-with-possible-craigslist-murder

Authorities received a call five days after the South Carolina man was shot from the Florida man's twin sister, concerned that her brother had not been heard from since Oct. 22 in Parkersburg, W.Va., the sheriff said. The twin, in Boston, said her brother had responded to what she believed was the same Craigslist ad, which sought a caretaker for cattle on a 688-acre farm.

The sheriff said the South Carolina man had been told to carry his belongings to Ohio because he'd be living at the farm, and robbery was believed to be the motive.

Stow teen in custody; FBI alleges Craigslist ads lured murder and shooting victims

According to an interview aired Thursday by WEWS (Channel 5) Hannum said the surviving victim “had been corresponding with this ‘Jack’ via email and text messaging, so with some forensic evidence from computers, that led us to our suspects.”

Feel free to discuss the crime on this thread, but there is a thread on trying to determine the UID victim here: [ame="http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=154982"]OH Noble County - Male responding to Craigslist ad, Nov 2011- - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community[/ame]

Wonder who this could be or if he was even listed as missing?

"COLUMBUS, Ohio—A jobseeker from Florida who responded to a bogus Craigslist ad for a job on a southeast Ohio cattle farm was found dead, buried in a shallow grave, and another from South Carolina was shot but escaped by running away through the woods, a sheriff said Thursday.

Noble County Sheriff Stephen Hannum said two men were taken into custody after cadaver dogs found the body of the Florida man this week in a grave in a remote area outside Caldwell, a small village about 80 miles east of Columbus."

CALDWELL, Ohio - A sheriff said that a jobseeker from Florida was killed and another from South Carolina was shot after responding to a craigslist ad for a job on an Ohio cattle farm.

Noble County Sheriff Stephen Hannum said that the victims had responded to a bogus listing for a job as a caretaker over cattle on a 688-acre farm.

yikes

poor guys just wanted a job

I wonder about the robbery motive ... I wouldn't think the victims had much with them in the way of money/valuables

Yeah that bothered me too Ladyl. I mean they might bring a small amount of money with them, but most likely they would use a bank acct. They might bring their property, but how much of that would be worth stealing?

I'm thinking more serial killer here. Like maybe they use Craigslist to draw them, then have their own reasons for killing them. Probably reasons we wouldn't understand but that satisfy some need of theirs.

I'm thinking of the 16 year old that was arrested. I wonder if he was the adults son and if he participated because he wanted or because he felt he had no other choice?

Lots of strange things here. For one Stow is nowhere near Noble county. Also the older man is being held on charges of prostitution? My guess is that he used his Craigslist account for all kinds of nefarious purposes.

I just hope they don't find more victims. Stow is north of Akron. It's about a 2 hour drive. First victim was met in Parkersburg. Second was met in Marietta. I'm thinking someone in that area was probably also involved. Why choose those two towns to meet?

The juvenile is also charged with purposely aiding or abetting the second suspect, Richard J. Beasley.

Beasley, 52, has a previous criminal record and a warrant was issued for his arrest in September.

According to the Summit County Court of Common Pleas, in two separate cases stemming from February, Beasley was previously charged with aggravated trafficking of drugs, tampering with evidence, possession of criminal tools, aggravated menacing, possession of counterfeit controlled substances, drug paraphernalia, illegal cultivation of marijuana and possession of drugs.

Hope it's just only 2 victims. I wonder what made Brogan & Richard such into horrible actions. It's good thing that the victim's twin sister made the contact with the sheriff after she heard the shooting news.

Teen charged in craigslist murder case; man named as accomplice

Officials confirmed that a 16-year-old boy was charged with delinquency counts of attempted murder and complicity to attempted murder in the case.

The newspaper article also reported that Beasley is sitting in an Akron jail under a $1million bond after bonds from his pending drug-trafficking and prostitution-related charges were revoked.

On Friday, Noble County Judge John W. Nau issued a gag order in the case.
http://www.lancastereaglegazette.co...urder-case?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|Frontpage

There is something really strange going on here. First the gag order. There has been no announcement as to who the buried man has been id'd as. There has been no announcement as to who the suspects are, not even the adult. And the judge anounces a gag order at this time?

The teen involved. Media has been paying more attention than usual IMO to the teen. IMO usually they would be paying a lot of attention to the adult then adding some info about the teen. But they have been writing whole articles about the teen, then just mentioning the adult.

The scene. They got the guy who lived, and when they got the call about the guy from Fla. they went back out and looked and found another grave. But from what I have read they don't seem to have any intention of looking around there to see if there might be other bodies.

For some reason I feel like there is a lot going on behind the scenes and for some reason they don't want the info to get out. Either that or they prefer not to have to do a serial killer investigation and won't look for more unless they get more requests or pressure.

Carol Beasley prayed that her son and the teenager he looked after did not kill one man and wound another who responded to a phony job posting on Craigslist.

"It would just absolutely break my heart," said Beasley, who called her son, Richard Beasley, 52, a "mentor" to Brogan Rafferty, 16.

Beasley is not the teen's father, but is described as the teen's mentor. Beasley is a minister and has a previous criminal history. And he is not concurrently being held on murder charges, he is being held on unrelated drug and prostitution charges. The teen is the one held on attempted murder charges.
