Turner, a University of New Orleans student and retired Navy chaplain, was found stangled to death in his dorm room on 10/30/06. His body is believed to have been there for several days, maybe even as long as seven. The killer is believed to have also stolen Patrick's wallet, cell phone and his 2001 beige Ford Taurus, LA license plate NRH 679.

I cannot find any record of arrests in his case. It appears to still be unsolved. There's relatively little info out there about it.

Police spokeswoman Bambi Hall says detectives believe the motive "may have sexual overtones" and that Turner was killed by a male acquaintance.

And from UNO's paper: http://www.nola.com/news/pdf/110306_driftwood.pdf

- Turner's sister lived in Slidell; they were close; he chose to live on campus to avoid the long commute; he'd spend many weekends at his sister's Slidell home
- He was pursuing an accounting degree after retiring from the Navy in 2005
- UNO students indicate that security at the dorm is a joke (Many of my friends went to UNO and it was well-known that living on campus was risky security-wise even before this happened; most lived at home with their parents and commuted for this reason).
- There was no forced entry to his dorm room.

My son was there, living on campus that semester. He never heard about it!?!
