Resolved CA - Los Angeles Co., Wht/HispFem UP11280, 26-40, breast implant, Feb'13

Was there any other information released on this discovery?

That's about an hour's drive away from where Bob went missing.

So, according to this report, there's been three homicides in Sunland since 2007. Now they've uncovered two bodies in the space of a couple of months.

I can't find any info on results for the Jan discovery yet, but it looks a little ominous to me if both these sets of remains are likely homicides.

Just so I have got things clear, are we looking at one or two Sunland/La Tuna Canyon discoveries?

June 21st, 2012. Burning body found, La Tuna Canyon Road. Identified as Cesar Verdugo, age 35.

(Family still appealing for info in Feb this year, in comments).

Which is completely separate from:

February 24th, 2013. Remains found, La Tuna Canyon Rd, Sunland.

Which is completely separate again from:

January 20th, 2013. Remains found, Angeles Nat Forest, north of Sunland.

For the latter two, I haven't found updates. Interestingly though, in the foohills Forum linked under the identified man, someone is saying a transient veteran they know is missing under suspicious circumstances, and asking what to do. I hope they did manage to contact the coroner about the vet, as he could be one of the above. There might be problems tracking down exactly who he is though, as the poster sounds as though they had a passing acquaintance only.

Here's the NamUs UP casefile for this case:

https://identifyus.org/en/cases/11280

It indicates that it was a White or Hispanic Female, 26-40 years old. The indicated height and weight measurements are probably postmortem, and are obviously too low for a living adult female.

It also indicates that a single breast implant was found with the remains.

Interesting. Re: Jeanette Gomez Espeleta, her profile states that her implants have serial numbers. That should make it an easy rule in/rule out.

Similarly, I wonder if the police have checked the implant with THIS decedent to see if it has a serial number.

Also about Jeanette, she was 8 months pregnant at the time of her death, so unless fetal bones were also found, it seems unlikely (but not impossible) that this is a match. Also, it sounds like investigators think she was killed and then put onto a boat. I assume they mean that then she was dumped in the ocean?

The Namus entry indicates the breast implant is
Allergan Style 68MP 390cc, Lot 1838586

A sketch has now been released...

County officials sought the public's help Tuesday in identifying a woman whose bones were found near La Tuna Canyon Road in Sunland just off the 210 Freeway.....

IMHO Megan has a wider mouth and her nose looks off, but I see what you mean. Very similar.

I agree, Megan's nose seems more narrow. Her mouth width I was contributing the fact that most (all?) of the pictures I have seen are of her smiling. When I do an overlay of a photo of Megan over the sketch it's pretty darn close.

I know the area very well and the location where the unidentified woman was found (La Tuna Cyn) is very close to Sunland where Megan was last seen. The proper authorities are working on this, seeing if this is a match. Either way, I hope this woman's identity is returned and she can be laid to rest.

Seeing the picture reminds me of April Pitzer.

Both UID and april are from Cali, Unfortunately tho April went missing in 2004 so I'm sure the timeline is way off.

All indications point to April being in a mineshaft somewhere east of Barstow.

I see the similarity between April and the UID. I haven't followed her case, I don't see anything about April having breast implants and the locations bother me. With that much desert surrounding the area April disappeared, it seems unlikely (IMO) that she would have ended up in the Sunland/Sun Valley area.

The family is saying that this UID women is NOT Megan DiPiazza. I wonder who she is?

Megan DiPiazza is not listed in the exclusions for this UID, is this because Megan is not in Namus? I heard she was excluded but DNA samples are not complete yet. I keep searching but I cannot find anyone that this matches, except Megan. I wish we knew more.
