ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — An upstate New York man previously charged with having child *advertiser censored* cut an electronic monitoring device off his ankle before carjacking a woman, fatally stabbing her and raping her 10-year-old daughter, authorities said.

David J. Renz, 29, abducted a school librarian and her daughter as they left a gymnastics class at a mall in the Syracuse suburb of Clay at about 9 p.m. Thursday, state police said Friday.

Troopers said he bound both victims, raped the child and drove a short distance to a spot where the girl managed to escape and was found by a passing motorist........

I just read this on another website. How horrible! They shouldnt let that coward hide his face!

Thank you Reader for posting this.My computer has been wacked today, but I lived in this area a few yrs ago and have been to this mall many times,it is on the outskirts of Syracuse.
It is a big mall and I am frankly shocked this happened here, its a town where a lot of bank robberies happen, but not crimes like this. Its a very very busy mall & there are lights, cameras & security everywhere.I am sure their are witnesses!

Oh I almost forgot-he has already been beaten up in jail,so they had to move him to PC-LOL

What an incredibly brave little girl. My heart goes out to her and her mother. I hope they do follow up on the ankle bracelet.

Oh poor baby. Wonder if it hurt? Hope he enjoyed it as much as they did. Was it as much fun being on the receiving end?

Seriously I know I shouldn't feel so good about someone taking revenge for this Mother and child, I know he is supposed to have the right to safety in jail, but dangit did they have to put him in PC now? Maybe just a few more days GP? Please?

I won't even say what I hope happens to this monster for fear of a time out. When are we going to figure out that most of these people can't be helped and not allow them anywhere but in jail- ankle bracelet my azz. My heart breaks for this little girl- left motherless and abused in the most horrific way imaginable. I hate this...

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A Cicero man suspected in a brutal murder and rape in Clay appeared in court on Friday evening with a broken nose after being assaulted by inmates at the Justice Center jail, Federal prosecutors say.

Following the attack, federal prosecutors say 29-year-old David Renz of Cicero was placed in protective custody at the Justice Center.

Renz’s bail was revoked after authorities say he violated the terms of his pre-trial agreement.

I know the child has to be protected, but will the murdered mom not have an obituary, I wonder? How are people she may have touched during her life to know she is dead?

Her name was withheld in the AP article I posted but she is identified in other articles, such as jjenny's above, even with a picture.

Syracuse, NY -- Lori A. Bresnahan will be remembered as a kind woman, loving mother and dedicated educator.

Lori Bresnahan

"She was very dedicated and awesome with the children," said Melissa Nasiff, a gymnastics coach at CNY Gymnastics Centre in Great Northern Mall. "She always had a smile on her face. She was a light and it was refreshing."

Bresnahan, 47, of Liverpool, and a 10-year-old child were leaving a gymnastics class at around 9 p.m. Thursday, when they were attacked in the parking lot. The attacker drove the two to a nearby road and stabbed Bresnahan, who later died from her injuries (Police have not identified the 10-year-old victim.)

How horrible! And if police hadn't let this brutal criminal out of jail, he couldn't have done this to two innocent people. If only they had kept him in jail...... So very sad.

Thank you, I did not open that one. I read the ones in my old hometown paper in Binghamton and they did not identify her, and I wondered, as I know people from the area and am of the same age group.

It is such a hideous crime. Reminds me in a way of the still unsolved murders in the malls in Florid?

I, personally could not get past the 1st few sentences of the original post. Being a mother of a daughter of similar age, I am so incredibly outraged by this story.

Ok, so I died during an attack. The very last thing I'd want to witness is something terrible happening to my baby. Why the baby!?

Humanity has become lost completely.

Gosh, I come to this website from time to time. I followed the Jessica Ridgeway murder for a while. This one hits really close to home as the suspect was in my graduating class with me at ESM High school. I knew him, not well, but I knew him. This is really really sad.

It is not the fault of the police. They didn't let him out. It's the fault of the courts.

This is one of the saddest things I have read or heard. A good mother. An involved mother and some creep crumb freak most likely watched them no doubt and waited to hurt that poor child at the cost of murdering her mother.

How in God's name will this poor child ever, ever recover from this?

From what I understand, he was only released because he was awaiting trial. He wasn't convicted of anything yet. He was awaiting charges for possessing child *advertiser censored*. He wasn't convicted, so he wasn't a registered sex offender (yet).

They could have given him a high enough bail to keep him put. They wanted time to review his lousey encrypted computers.

Not directing it at you joejoet, but even if he had been a RSO and then reoffended they could have let hom out yet again and again and gave him a lousey bracelet. From so many cases I have read here and posted IMO forget the bracelet. Forget if it even goes off as it is supposed to. They're long gone by the time they can look for them.

The FBI report on those child *advertiser censored* charges are at this following link. Please, please be warned they are extremely, horrificly disturbing.
