A 70-year-old woman who was an active churchgoer was murdered this morning inside her home, and police believe the killer may be driving her four-door Ford Fusion.

Here’s how the crime was reported: Just before 9 a.m., a man with the victim’s church carpool group knocked on her door to pick her up — and an unknown assailant attacked him.

“He may have interrupted the crime,” Matthews said.

Victim, suspect ID'd in fatal Cocoa attack

Police this morning identified an 81-year-old woman killed in an apparently random act of violence -- by a man police said had just been released from jail and is still on the lam -- as Faye Jones.

Police are on the lookout for the suspect, identified as Marcus Antonio Royal, 33, who they said may be armed and dangerous. Royal, who has served 15 years in prison for another attack on an elderly woman, was identified as a suspect after police said he used Jones' bank cards in Seminole County.

Jones, 81, was killed at her home in the 1300 block of North Fiske Boulevard, just north of the Dixon Boulevard stoplight, said Barbara Matthews, Cocoa police spokeswoman.

This is horrible. I hope they catch this sorry piece of trash soon before he attacks another woman.

This guy needs to be caught FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The suspect, Royal, may be with another person and may be in the victim's vehicle, a dark green 2010 Ford Fusion with Florida tag number: N74 4PU. A warrant for his arrest -- charging him with first-degree murder, attempted murder and burglary -- has been issued.

Matthews said anyone who spots the Ford Fusion or suspect should call Cocoa police or Central Florida Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.

"...he is an incredible threat to society and we need him to know that there's no place he can hide," Cocoa police spokeswoman Barbara Matthews. "We want every pair of eyes out there looking for him."

Royal was released from the Brevard County Jail on Saturday at 10:15 a.m., less than 24 hours before the crime, according to investigators. He is a registered sex offender.

Police said they believe Royal is in possession of Jones' dark green, four-door, 2012 Ford Fusion with Florida tag N74-4PU.

According to police, Royal has a history of attacking elderly women and his first arrest was when he was 14 years old."

"COCOA --
The search continues for a killer as police look into the death of a 81-year-old Cocoa woman.
Her son said she was stabbed to death in her own home Sunday in Cocoa.
Police would only confirm that a woman was murdered and a man, who came over to check on her, was airlifted to a nearby hospital.
The victim was initially reported as being 70. Cocoa police updated her age Monday to 81."

A little confused now. The above article says they updated the victims age, so I'm not sure if it is one or two women killed...

I read an article that there were two killings yesterday within 12 hours, one with a gun and then this one. It wasn't clear if he killed both.

I can't even think about what he put her through before she died. I hope someone else gets to him first and makes him disappear, obviously jail isn't a deterrent for this monster.

What a bizarre story-thank goodness he turned his psycho self in. Probably missed his 3 hots etc.

Let's keep him forever this time around.............what a sorry piece of human trash.

I wonder why he would. Who cares really but it's curious.
Now Justice do your job !
