Jennifer Michelle Cruz, 12

New Orleans police are seeking the public's help in locating a 12-year-old missing from her Mid-City home. Jennifer Michelle Cruz, 12, was last seen Sunday in the 2600 block of Palmyra Street. She is believed to be a runaway, police said.

Cruz did not report to school Monday, and has not been seen nor heard from since leaving the house. Cruz is known to be a habitual runaway, police said.

Cruz is described as 5 feet tall; police had no approximation of her weight.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Jennifer Cruz is asked to notify the NOPD at 504.821.2222 or CrimeStoppers at 504.822.1111 or toll free at 1.877.903.7867.

Habitual at 12? Sounds like they may need to figure out something before something really bad happens.

The 2600 block of Palmyra is close to S Broad & Tulane Ave. Those of you that followed Jessica Pratt or Jaren Lockhart's cases are probably familiar with Tulane Avenue's reputation. Not necessarily a safe place.

Hopefully word is out in the Spanish-language press/radio about Jennifer as well as many Hondurans moved into this area after Hurricane Katrina.

Thank you; yes that is very nearby the jail and a horrible area for a young lady to be missing at night. Trafficking is a HUGE problem in NOLA now and she is putting herself at risk for that. Mid-City, like most of NOLA, is a mixed bag and you are usually within a mike of a dangerous area if in city limits sadly.
Btw IMO I don't think that her being a habitual runaway should have been printed. She is a 12yo missing GIRL. A and if you're a habitual runaway at such a young age there is usually a reason you're running. I sure hope she is found safe. Has anyone seen any FB posts on her?
Jmo, as always :)

I don't think it should have been printed either, it makes people shrug their shoulders and think oh well, she will come home, Even in cases on here, runaway vs. plain missing makes a difference in the amount of attention a case gets.

This poor child must be running away for a reason. I pray that she is found soon, and that she hasn't been harmed.

She's been reported missing again.
