Obviously my first question is why did they wait soooooo long to report him missing?

Obviously my first question is why did they wait soooooo long to report him missing?

I have the same question, that definitely caught my eye when I read the article. Why did they wait so long? Was it not unusual for him to go 2 months without speaking to his family?

I do know that they found the body of another man in the same county that he lives in, I believe last week. Maybe that's what sparked his families concern? I'm not sure, let me see if I can find the other article.

I also don't understand why they aren't giving us more details or information to help locate this man.

He disappeared from a relatively small community that is pretty close knit and everybody mostly knows everybody. I can't believe it's been 7 months and there aren't many tips. Surely somebody has to know something. One thing's for sure, George County doesn't have the resources or man power to search for this man on their own.

I didn't find an official confirmation (only a Topix post FWIW that says it's not him) if these remains were identified as Donovan's.

Human remains found at the bottom of a pond in Greene County are believed to be those of a missing George County man.

Donovan Cowart disappeared two years ago, and his family and authorities have been searching for him ever since. Now, two people are charged with his murder.

Welford Lee McCarty and Robert Virgil Stevens were arrested Tuesday. Investigators say they killed Cowart two years ago and dumped his body in a pond off Double Bridge Road in the southeast corner of Greene County.
