You can also purchase a weather radio which will inform you of severe weather even if your electricity goes out. Runs on batteries of course. Hubby and I have one we use at home and for chasing. We also keep an eye on the barometer.

Many posters have posted the most awesome weather maps, chaser links and more. Be safe my friends.

Does anybody still have snow on the ground?

One of my favorite websites for weather info from the Storm Prediction Center!

Click on Current Day One Outlook and you will get info on Categorical, Tornado, Wind and Hail. Map will give you outlined areas with the chance percentage of a tornado, strong wind or hail happening in your area. Info can change throughout the day so the morning's prediction may vary slightly from the afternoon's prediction.

Powerful winds lash California

http://www.centurylink.net/news/rea...ass&action=5&lang=en&_LT=UNLC_USNWU00L5_UNEWS

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Powerful winds have been raking California and are beginning to be felt elsewhere in the West...........

The massive rush of air across California also has had an upside. The main power grid operator says turbines spinning within the grid produced a record 4,196 megawatts Sunday night.

it's been super windy in middle america for the last two days and now today, this afternoon I could feel the build. Thinkin we may get a stray thunderstorm this evening or early in the morning.

Snow/sleet is predicted for Wed, with a 70% chance of snow on Thurs. The high for Wed is going to be 37, with 36 for Thurs. Good grief! This is April, supposedly spring.

Spring storm delivers snow, winds; delays travel

http://centurylink.net/news/read.ph...ass&action=7&lang=en&_LT=UNLC_USNWU00L7_UNEWS

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A large spring snowstorm delivering heavy snow, high winds and rain was causing travel problems from Wyoming to Chicago on Tuesday.

In Wyoming, some big stretches of Interstates 25 and 80 were closed for parts of the day, and blowing snow made driving dangerous along other highways. No unnecessary travel was advised Tuesday afternoon on about 180 miles of I-25 between Cheyenne and Casper because heavy snow was causing near whiteout conditions....more......

Stay safe, everybody! what a mess...

It is still snowing....it just never stopped. There are 6-8 foot drifts and almost 3 feet of snow has fallen since Monday. We woke up to no heat this morning. I will post pics when I can....some more are on my FB.

Thundering in the distance here. Does that count?

We had thunderstorms with a lot of lightning last night with more expected today. It's very dark now, raining, and thunder in the distance. Flood warnings in several local counties.

Be safe.

We are under a slight risk for Severe Weather. Isolated Tornados can not be ruled out.
Thunderstorms and high winds and hail are the main threat.

raining and thunder but not bad so far. We expect strong to severe thunderstorms today and into the overnight hours. Thankfully no major warnings issued as yet.

Predictions on what this year will bring storm wise?

I am thinking more of what we saw last year. Which means lots of severe weather with tornadoes.

With the Hurricane predictions (see above), the drought along the east coast will most likely end. La Nina is weak and will probably go back to neutral. With the neutral the Plains and the South West will not probably see much change in the drought. I have been following the Long Range Summer predictions at Accuweather. I admit. I am a weather nut.

And to think I was cursing the few snowflakes we are getting in the middle of April!

Almost 3 feet of snow and no heat! Geez Jacie Estes...I'm am sorry.
