RENO, Nev. (AP) — A body believed to be that of Nevada's missing chief insurance examiner was found wrapped in a blanket and bound with duct tape Saturday in a river in Carson City, and four suspects were arrested in the case, authorities said.............

Authorities suspected foul play after finding evidence Thursday of a bloody, violent struggle in McCune's apartment in Carson City. Deputies were called to the apartment after the 62-year-old McCune failed to board a flight with a co-worker and other employees found no sign of him when they went to his residence.

All four suspects are from the Carson City area, Furlong said, but detectives were unsure of their relationship to McCune or the motive for the slaying..............

Investigators continued to process evidence at McCune's home Saturday, and there was no indication yet of the weapon or weapons involved in the death.

"We haven't finished interviews and work at the scene to substantiate theories about a motive," Furlong said. "We're still processing the house and coming up with many alternatives."............

Suspects Booked on Murder in Nev. Official's Death

Investigators believe four suspects stole property in the apartment of Nevada's chief insurance examiner before killing him and dumping his body in a river, authorities said Sunday..............

Initially, Michael Evans, 23, and Anthony Elliot, 20, were booked on murder charges, while Raul Garcia, 22, and Makyla Blackmore, 20, were arrested on burglary charges. But Furlong said Sunday that Garcia and Blackmore were later booked on murder charges...............

Detectives believe McCune knew two of the suspects socially, Furlong said, and the possible motive was the theft of property or money from him driven by illegal drug use. They're still processing evidence at McCune's apartment and trying to compile an accurate list of stolen items, he said.

"We think stealing was quite apparently the motive because they took so much from him," Furlong told The Associated Press. "The mystery is if you intended on robbing and killing him, why did you have to take the body out? That doesn't make sense to me."...........more...........

A man has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the April 2013 beating death of Nevada's chief insurance examiner. Raul Garcia Jr. awaits sentencing Oct. 27 after entering the plea Friday in Carson District Court.

Garcia said he and the other defendants went to the Carson City apartment of 62-year-old William McCune to rob him because they believed he had a lot of money.

The other three pleaded guilty in deals with the District Attorney’s office earlier this year and have already been sentenced. Makyla Blackmore, who wasn’t in the apartment when McCune was beaten to death, was allowed to plead guilty to conspiracy to commit robbery and possession of the credit cards. Michael Evans and Anthony Elliott were allowed plea bargains as well, getting 10-25 year sentences...

The three men beat McCune to death at his apartment in an attempt to get the pin numbers for his credit cards. They took a number of valuables, then returned the next day to steal more things. They wrapped McCune’s body in a blanket with duct tape and dumped it in the Carson River.

The last of four defendants in the beating death of Nevada Insurance Examiner William McCune, was sentenced Monday to 50 years in prison.

District Judge Todd Russell ordered Raul Garcia Jr., 24, to serve half a century for his part in the crime — the same sentence that was given to Anthony Elliott in the case.

That provides both men an opportunity for parole after serving a minimum of 20 years.
