Amanda Martinez would have turned 21 years old if she was not shot to death in the midst of a street fight. Apparently the fight was between two females and escalated up to 30 people and included men. Neighbors all came out to see what was going on and Martinez wound up dead and three males were shot as well.

Philadelphia police said upwards to 100 people were on the block and all they can get on an ID of the shooter is he was short and light skinned.

RIP Amanda. I am so sorry you didn't get to celebrate your birthday.

That is sad....was she involved in the fight or just came out to watch, I wonder?

I wish LE could subpoena every phone out that night...bet somebody has pictures of what happened.

Apparently Amanda was not involved, but went to look at what was happening according to her friend. The friend was quoted as saying she told her to leave it alone.

So young and it's her brithday.

From April 2013:

Police said after an investigation into the murder of Amanda Martinez, 20, who was killed in the crossfire when a gunman sprayed Somerset Street near Lee the evening of April 9, a warrant was issued Thursday for 25-year-old Luis Soto, who lives on Lee Street near the scene of the shooting. Soto surrendered to police the same day and has been charged with murder and related offenses for Martinez’s death, police said.

Soto is also charged with three counts of attempted murder for wounding three men, ages 18, 21 and 35, in the same shooting.

Can't find any updates after that.

From August:

At the end of its first day of deliberating, the Common Pleas Court jury determined Soto was not guilty of first-degree murder or conspiracy to commit murder, but was guilty of third-degree murder, three counts of aggravated assault and three handgun violations...

At Soto's December sentencing hearing, Vega said he will ask Judge Glenn Bronson to slap the defendant with the maximum: 57-to-114 years in state prison.
