Daily Oklahoman case updates:
11:25 a.m. Police have ruled a 7-year-old boy's Sunday death a homicide. Master Sgt. Gary Knight said investigators have determined there was a burglary at the home overnight, and the burglary and fire are related. No arrests have been made and there are no suspects, Knight said.

not much info, who else was in the home at the time of the fire? Did everyone else make it out okay? Odd the lack of detail. Gonna keep my eye on this one.

OKLAHOMA CITY -
The death of a 7-year-old boy who'd been left home alone has been ruled a homicide after police found evidence the house was burglarized before the fire that claimed the boy's life started.

Firefighters say no one else was in the home at the time of the fire. Adrian's mother and her boyfriend arrived at the house round 2 a.m.

The boy's father arrived at the scene around 6 a.m., and he was extremely upset.
Adrian's 2-year-old brother was with his grandfather at the time of the fire.

This whole story is fishy. Was the break in and fire to cover up something that was done to Adrian? Why was the two year old brother with the grandfather and Adrian was not? Lots of questions here.

Wow, there has to be more to this than a burglary, and why is a 7 year old at home by himself at night?

yeah, seems a bit unusual that the 7yr old was home alone and a burglar just happened to pick that house, kill him and set a fire.

sitting back awaiting more on this one but from what little is out there right now. Hinky stinky too much coinky dinky for me.

Have no idea what the case may be here, but all too often, because of circumstances, the poor child babysits himself.

UPDATE: Oklahoma City police say 7-year-old boy's death was homicide
---
Police Master Sgt. Gary Knight said the medical examiner would determine the cause of Adrian's death, but investigators think he died as a result of the fire.
---
Police also are looking into why the boy was home alone, Knight said.

Adrian lived at the home with his mother and her boyfriend, who were at a bar until 2 a.m., neighbors said.

So they left a 7 year old child at home so they could go to a bar. Ugh. I know they probably regret the decision now, but they should be held responsible. That's neglect, and that poor boy had to die alone. I still don't get the burglar(s) setting the house on fire, though. I wonder if they knew he was there. I find it hard to imagine he didn't hear anything though, with the burglars kicking the door in......

Lerese Paulina Cruz, 26, and Julio Cesar Nevarez, 19, both of Oklahoma City, were booked into the Oklahoma County jail on complaints of murder, arson and burglary, police Master Sgt. Gary Knight said.

Investigators identified the two as suspects in the fatal fire and arrested them Friday following a traffic stop, Knight said.
---
Police said the fire was caused by burglars, which made the death a homicide.

I am so pleased that the two losers Cruz and Nevarez have been arrested for the death of little 7-yr. old boy Adrian. Now, I want to hear that his mother will be charged with child neglect and child endangerment for leaving him home by himself while she was out with her boyfriend until 2 a.m.

Also, her 2-yr. old should be removed from her custody.

Oklahoma City police arrested Claudia Cadena, 25, and Albert Barboza, 20, on Friday on complaints of murder, arson and burglary in connection with the boy’s death.

In May 2013, Lorese Paulina Cruz, 26, and Julio Cesar Nevarez, 19, both of Oklahoma City, were charged with murder, arson and burglary in the case.

A witness told police Cruz said she was responsible for the child's death, adding that she was angry at her ex-husband, Tony Guillen, according to a probable cause affidavit. Adrian lived at the house with his mother, Noemi Lopez, and Guillen.

According to police, Cruz admitted that she and Nevarez set up the burglary. She said her ex-husband lived at that house, and she wanted to burglarize the home in retaliation for her ex-husband's lack of support for their child.

All four suspects then went to the home that night. But it was Nevarez and Barboza who broke into the home and stole jewelry, purses, televisions and computer equipment. Cruz and Cadena sat down outside, watching out for any vehicle that might return to the home, police said.

After the burglary, police said Naverez used some light fluid and a light to set the house on fire... The suspects told police they did not know that the child was inside the home.

According to court records, it was cell phone records that police just obtained that led them to arrest both of these two new suspects...

The new court papers filed Thursday state the two women acted as lookouts, while the men broke into the house.

And they state Cruz was actually angered by the fact that the house was at first not set on fire, and that Nevarez then returned to the house and used a lighter and some lighter fluid to set the living room on fire inside the home.

Prosecutors have dismissed a felony child neglect case against an Oklahoma mother whose 7-year-old son was home alone when a burglar set the house on fire. Prosecutors also dismissed the charge against the mother’s live-in boyfriend...

Lorese Paulina Cruz, 28, and her former boyfriend Julio Cesar Nevarez, 22, both of Oklahoma City, pleaded guilty in August to first-degree murder, burglary and arson. Cruz was sentenced to 25 years in prison. Nevarez got 35 years.

Albert Barboza, 21, and Claudia Cadena, 26, also of Oklahoma City, pleaded guilty Thursday to first-degree murder and burglary. Barboza was sentenced to 15 years in prison. Cadena got five years.
