With a little over 1,400 square feet of living space, it is neither unusually large nor small. It has a detached garage and two porches: the front one small and open, the back one enclosed. It holds two floors, an attic and a basement. If you walked in through the front door that Amanda Berry used for her escape, you would be greeted by a staircase going up directly ahead of you and a small living room to the left.

Details of the physical description of the house at 2207 Seymour Ave., in an older neighborhood.

View from the back much worse than view from the front and can't imagine what someone living in the city needs barbed wire for.

they (police) boarded it up so no-one could get in but it looks like some old boarded up parts as well.

Delinquent taxes owed since 2010.
He owes $2,501 in a "complaint for the collection of delinquent taxes, assessment, penalties and interest, foreclosure and equitable relief," according to a spokesman in the prosecutor's office.
Castro is named on the filing along with potential lienholders Edwin and Antonia Castro, who at the time of a 1992 filing were still owed $5,000 by Ariel Castro.

Ariel Castro's home an oasis of calm on chaotic block, police records show

Next door to the Castro house, at No. 2003 Seymour, residents called police 35 times. Two more doors down, at No. 2115, police fielded 37 calls. Across the street and a few doors down at No. 2120, police came 68 times.

The neighborhood emerges from the police records as a central character in the crime story, a declining neighborhood in social turmoil. Why would the quiet house on the block draw a second glance from officers who are responding to domestic abuse calls and flashers, to broken windows and prowlers, to a fight involving 20 people armed with baseball bats?

LE was called to the neighborhood about once every 3 1/2 days including later the day that the girls were rescued.
