Loxley Police and the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office have arrested a fugitive from Indiana who kidnapped a woman and her child.

Police say the woman and child have been missing since September 2012.

They got a tip Wednesday night that the suspect was staying at a hotel in Loxley. He was arrested last night at the hotel.

The suspect is 38-year-old Aaron Massey from Nobileville, Indiana, which is northeast of Indianapolis. Massey is charged as a fugitive from justice in Baldwin County.

Pending charges from Indiana include rape, kidnapping, and unlawful imprisonment.

Police say both the mother and child are okay.

Interesting tan lines.

In 2006, WTHR in Indiana reported that Massey was involved in a standoff with police. Massey was being sought for rape and assault. Police received a 911 call from the victim. Soon after, police and SWAT teams surrounded the house to try and negotiate with Massey. After 10 hours, the standoff ended, and police arrested Massey and took him to the hospital.

A man Hamilton County police call one of their “Most Wanted” is back behind bars after almost a year on the run, the sheriff’s department announced today.

Aaron Massey was arrested in southern Alabama. Police say he fled on May 21, 2012, after failing to report for a probation program at the Hamilton County Community Corrections facility.

There is also mention that he was a previous suspect in a sexual abuse case.........

And he kidnapped a woman and child?

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office called Massey one of their "most wanted." He was convicted in an August 2006 incident in which he was accused of holding a woman hostage and telling police he had put explosives around the home. After serving his sentence, he was on probation in a work release program when police said on May 21, 2012 he didn't return to the Community Corrections facility after work.

This guy has serious issues. Maybe this time they can actually keep him behind bars for more than a minute.

So in 2006 he accused of sexual abuse. (the term abuse rather than assault makes me think minor victim)

Within days of that acusation he busts into some woman's home and holds her hostage and has standoff with LE.

He is sentenced, is released (when?) then fails to report to his PO in May 2012

Current female and child victim disappear in September 2012 and he has had them this whole time.

Yeah, this guy is a danger. period. Always will be.

These types of cases always make my mind ponder the age old question about the prison system- is for punishment of the guilty and the protection of innocents or is it for the rehabilitation of the guilty so they can return to society?

More and more, criminals are convicted, imprisoned, and then sent to a work-release facility-where they then escape and continue on committing heinous crimes.

At least 6 prisoners at work-release facilities escape in my area each month. This system is not working.

Thankfully this seems to be a month for the rescue of women captive's. With the release of the three from Cleveland, now this woman and child.

I hope the trend continues.

For a man who is as bad as he sounds, and who is on the most wanted list there are very few media articles on him.

A mother and her infant son are now safe, thanks in part to the determination of deputies with the Howard County Sheriff’s Department. The officers worked from the time Kristy Redenbaugh was reported missing in September 2012 until the man police allege was her captor was arrested Thursday.

So the missing woman was Kristy Redenbaugh. I checked and didn't find a thread on her.

It seems that after her mother reported her missing, her Mom started receiving messages from her. The two had a relationship prior to taking off. It is unknown about the circumstances in which they left.

"I like the bad boys," said the mother of five, "but it is what it is.

Redenbaugh says they knew their illegal road trip wouldn't last forever. So, she claims, they came up with a story in case they got caught.

"And it was that he kidnapped me and he raped me," said Redenbaugh. "That was to save my butt so we wouldn't lose him," she said, pointing toward her toddler.

Well, I hope she has the same attitude when they take her child (or chldren, article states that she is a mother of 5) away from her & put her in prison.
I wonder if she'll still be saying "It is what it is" from behind bars, which is where she belongs

A Baldwin County grand Jury is set to hear Massey's case. Meanwhile, the woman Massey now claims is his wife says she hopes she, Massey, and her five children can be reunited and have a normal life one day soon.

If that was what they hoped he shoulda completed his probation in the work release program and not done a runner... Where were her other four children while she enjoyed the bad boy's company?

Read some rumors about that on a topix site earlier today
