More at the link

A spokeswoman for the Sheriff's Office said there is no immediate threat to the public, that it appeared the remains had been there for some time.

When I use google maps to plot one mile from McGregor Blvd to Shell Point Road, it all pretty much looks vacant on the left side of the road. To the right is a large body of water and a little further to the right, there is a complex on Woodsong Lane. It looks like a housing development, hotel or condo.

Oops, it says (in Ms suzanne's link) it is on the east side of shell point, so that means it is on the right. Must be past Woodsong Lane area.

Here's an article from today May 25th

It's a dead end road, with a retirement community with 2100 residents. The person who located the remains were out on a nature walk at night. Perhaps that is why they are bing investigated.
The body will be taken to an anthropologist, and may take up to a month for identification.

I looked at Collier County to the south as well. The gulfside scenic route does look like it goes through all the way from Naples to Iona presently.

Not surprisingly, the CCSO lists 41 missing persons, where NamUs has only 19 from Collier. All the NamUs entries are listed on the CCSO as well, with the exception of the two Eddleman males, father & son who went missing from their boat that was recovered on the east coast of FL. They are on NamUs only.

Why is it considered so strange to be out at night time, is there a curfew?

I know this area.

It is strange to be out at night because of the alligators in the area. They mostly are active at night to feed. They do not discriminate.

Also the area is covered with thickets. It is almost impossible to walk through them and impossible to find anything in there even in the daytime.

I'm getting a permission error, but can't find anything in MSM.
