I couldn't find a thread for Candi, so am adding this one for her.



Human remains found last month in a wooded area of northern Indiana have been identified as those of a woman who vanished last summer.

Michigan City police used DNA to determine that the bones were those of 29-year-old Candi Brown, who was last seen in August 2012.

Police are still investigating what happened to Brown and how the Michigan City woman's remains ended up in a wooded area just outside that city. Her remains were found in early May.

After Brown's disappearance, her car was found abandoned outside a Michigan City bar and grill.

“Devastation, like never in a million years did you think this would happen to you,” said James Edwards, Brown’s cousin.

The last anyone saw of the 29-year-old Brown was in late August of last year.

“They pulled in dog teams from different states and they pulled in a helicopter from a different county, troopers on horseback, they went all out looking for Candi,” said Christine Salzer, a volunteer who helped look for Brown.

Months went by, and then in May someone found human remains near County Line Road and Chandler Road, a wooded area just outside Michigan City.

“Why? What did she do in life that was so bad that she deserved to be discarded like an animal?” said Edwards.

The Michigan City Police Department is still investigating what happened to Brown, and how she ended up in the woods.

“At this point we really don't know,” said Salzer.

Candi Brown -- who also goes by the name Candi Morris -- was reported missing Saturday evening by her husband. Investigators have tracked down several leads and determined one of the last areas Candi might have been was between Central Beach in Porter County and Mount Baldy in Michigan City.

On Friday May 3rd 2013 numerous agencies came together to investigate human remains which were located in the area of County Line Road and Chandler Road. The Michigan City Police Department, with the assistance of the LaPorte County Prosecutor’s Office, LaPorte County Coroner’s Office, the Indiana State Police, and the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department investigated the human remains. It has been determined through DNA comparison that the human remains are that of missing person Candi Brown. Candi Brown was reported missing as of August 7th 2012 by her husband David Morris. Candi was last seen August 25th 2012 in the evening. This investigation is still ongoing and the Michigan City Police Department is asking if anyone has information regarding this investigation please call Cpl. Very sad she never became a proper case here.
