Husband Walid Esmat Mitwalli charged with murder of wife Mona. , Mona Mitwalli suffered seven stab wounds to her chest, three to her back, one to the back of her head and multiple cuts and slashes to her throat.

Prior to murdering her, he had surveillance on her in her car and their home, had a false restraining order against her which was later dropped by the court and also had her committed for psychological evaluation which was later determined to be a domestic dispute only. After her release she slept with her doors locked at night and told her parents something was going to happen.

That guy looks mean. He thought she was cheating so he put cams everywhere, took extra life insurance out of her. Crying saying he had to stab her because she tried to stab him first; sure that's why she has all those defense wounds. What a .

How is it that she was just snapped up and committed and that he so easily got her escorted from the home on a protection order? Crying shame-seems like he was awfully convincing and some people were maybe a bit too easily fooled.

I guess that's the new MO for cheating wives. Get extra life insurance, then ...............

Sorry, no matter what this guy says, he's gonna go down for Murder 1 because of that additional life insurance he took out. :jail:

This story is WAY too close to home....literally. I live very close to this. I have read a lot of articles on this case already, and this man was on a mission.

He filed for divorce in April. The next day he had his wife involuntarily committed for mental problems, saying she tried to kill him. This was unfounded by the medical professionals, and she was released. Mona (the vic) from that point on stayed with their twin 5 yr old daughters in the locked bedroom at night (fatal mistake, she should have left).
Then he tried to have an order of protection against her, which he got for a few days on a temp basis, but once in front of the judge, it was removed. Their nanny testified that Mona was not a danger, that nothing was going on...AND a waitress testified that they were all out to dinner together and acting like a loving family/couple (post filing for the temp order)

"Wally" (his nickname) had elaborate surveillance equipment set up to "find" damaging info (he said Mona was cheating on him). Somehow, the DVR he used is missing, the Police are asking for help from anyone that may know what happened to it.

He met with her parents previously, trying to trash their daughter to them. This is very telling to me, like he was trying to get everyone on his "side" in the divorce. Controlling and manipulative.

I have not heard of any wounds on Wally, but Mona (who, he said, "attacked" him with the knife) had 7 chest knife wounds, 3 back knife wounds, and knife wounds in the back of her head.

She was dead BEFORE he called 911. To me, this, along with the missing DVR,, speaks to his waiting until she was dead before calling--and getting rid of the DVR before they got there.

I will be following this very closely, and I pray for the girls.

You can bet this is a trial I will be following closely too.

I wonder what he showed her parents that he thought would "convince" them. I wonder why he thought going to her parents would change anything. Regardless of what this woman may have or may have not been doing, this "man", her husband, plotted to kill her, and he did. RIP Mona, I'll be praying for your girls, I hope they are safe and being held tonight. I know you are watching over them.

G**D*** these men who cannot get past their own (often unfounded) jealousies. Two children are without their mother because their father was a who would rather kill his wife than be alone.

So mad right now.

Always MOO

This is horrible. Is the daughter safe?

The couple had twin 5 year olds and both girls were asleep in the house when the stabbings occurred. It sounds like they are unharmed, thankfully! Here's a link from phillyburbs.com and quick quote from the article:
When Hatfield police arrived they found Mona Elswedy Mitwalli dead in a pool of blood on the living-room floor. The carving knife was beside the 30-year-old’s body. Both of the couple’s 5-year-old twin daughters were sleeping upstairs, police said.

The picture of LE standing in front of the door of their home is so sad. I hadn't even looked over at it, but just scrolling down to read the article, out of the corner of my eye I saw the word 'love.' Then, going back to really look at it, because I almost passed it off as the link to some other story, I realized it was LE guarding the house and the 'love' sign was on their door.

How sadly ironic it is.

A Hatfield man accused of fatally stabbing his wife in their township home might wage a mental infirmity defense at trial, according to court papers.

Walid Esmaat Mitwalli, through his lawyer, John I. McMahon Jr., filed papers in Montgomery County Court notifying prosecutors and a judge, “that he intends to enter a claim of mental infirmity at the time of trial”...

McMahon previously vowed to wage a self-defense claim on behalf of Mitwalli at the trial, which is expected to get under way next year before Judge Steven T. O’Neill.

Hatfield, Montgomery County, is in South-Eastern, PA.

Montgomery County prosecutors want a jury to know that a Hatfield Township man enrolled in self-defense training involving the use of knives just months before he allegedly stabbed his wife to death in June 2013 and that he was involved in a domestic dispute with a former wife in New York in 2007.

First Assistant District Attorney Kevin R. Steele argued to a judge that such evidence is relevant to demonstrate accused wife-killer Walid E. Mitwalli’s intent, motive, malice and ill-will towards Mona Mitwalli and to provide the natural progression of events leading up to her June 7, 2013, murder...

O’Neill took the matter under advisement, indicating he will rule on the evidentiary matters before Mitwalli’s trial begins this spring.

Prosecutors have provided sufficient evidence to allow an accused Hatfield Township wife slayer to go to trial on a first-degree murder charge, according to a decision by a Montgomery County judge.

Judge Steven T. O’Neill on Wednesday handed down a ruling denying a defense motion to toss out the first-degree murder charge filed against Walid Esmat Mitwalli for the June 2013 stabbing death of his 30-year-old wife, Mona Elswedy Mitwalli...

The judge said he hopes to schedule the trial for this spring.

“There’s definitely remorse,” Walid Esmit Mitwalli said as he was escorted by Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies from the courtroom where he pleaded guilty to a charge of third-degree murder in connection with the June 7, 2013 fatal stabbing of his wife, Mona...

Judge Steven T. O’Neill deferred sentencing so that court officials can complete a background investigative report about the 38-year-old Mitwalli. The charge of third-degree murder carries a possible maximum sentence of up to 40 years in prison.

Hatfield man sent to prison for ‘horrific’ fatal stabbing of his wife

http://www.thereporteronline.com/article/RO/20160725/NEWS/160729897

Calling it a “case of horrific domestic violence,” a judge sent a Hatfield man to prison for up to four decades for fatally stabbing his wife during an argument that occurred in their home as their marriage unraveled.

“This is a case of horrific domestic violence…power, authority, control. You had an extreme indifference to the value of human life. That human life had extraordinary value until you took it away,” Montgomery County Judge Steven T. O’Neill addressed admitted killer Walid Esmit Mitwalli on Monday.

O’Neill sentenced Mitwalli to 15 to 40 years in a state correctional facility in connection with the June 7, 2013, fatal stabbing of his wife, Mona.

The victim’s sisters and parents tearfully testified about their loss, describing Mona Mitwalli as an “amazing” woman who worked as a physical therapist with children and who loved her daughters. During one excruciatingly painful moment, a relative showed the judge a drawing by one of Mona’s daughters, who depicted her mother as an angel looking over them.

“She was like our rock, our glue,” Amal Elsweti said about her sister, Mona.

The couple’s children are now living with the victim’s relatives.
