BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) The car belonging to a missing elderly Wasco man has been found in San Bernardino County.

Clarence Reynolds, 80, was reported missing last week after he left his home to visit his wife at a Bakersfield hospital and never arrived, according to the Kern County Sheriff's Office.

Reynolds' Ford Focus was found abandoned Monday afternoon, stuck in a sandy wash about 10 miles north of Highway 58 in Black Mountain Canyon, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Cindy Bachman. The car was spotted by a San Bernardino deputy out of Barstow, Bachman said.

Deputies searched the area until nightfall without any luck. The search resumed Tuesday morning, Bachman said.

Reynolds' family has told Eyewitness News that he's suffered episodes of disorientation and forgetfulness.
