Colonial America's oldest unsolved murder case is finally cracked: Forensic
scientists reveal identity of 19-year-old European shot in a Virginia duel in 1624
. (Daily Mail)
Archaeologists in Virginia believe they have solved a cold-case murder where the trails have been dead for nearly 400 years.

The remains of a man who died after being shot in the leg in Jamestown has been identified as George Harrison, who died in 1624.
---
Jamestown Rediscovery said that they knew that the skeleton was of a white male, between 18 and 20 years old.
---
Archaeologists believe that the victim had a gentleman's status, as he had been buried in a coffin.
---
Forensic anthropologists at Jamestown Rediscovery analyzed the badly crushed leg and made a reconstruction of Harrison's face.
---
'The lead bullet and shot fragments lodged in his lower right leg contained enough force to fracture his tibia and fibula bones, rupturing a major artery below the knee,' said William Kelso. 'He would have bled to death within minutes.'
---
It is possible that duelist Richard Stephens, a Jamestown merchant, was using foul means as well as fair during the duel.

'That's a combat round. It's almost like a shotgun but it also has a main bullet.

'So you wouldn't think unless somebody was cheating in the duel that they would have that kind of a load,' Kelso explained.
