That could be also. Like she needed to maybe keep track of that just in case if someone was to ask or something.

But....WOW!!!! What a bizarre case this is! I've never heard about Lorie Ruff up till a few months ago and I'm hooked now. I want to know so bad who she was. But more then anything I just want to know why?

It bugs me. I keep thinking if she new she was going to kill her self then why not just leave a letter explaining to her daughter at least who she really was. Kind of selfish in a way.

Very simplistic, perhaps, but the normal length of pregnancy is 40 weeks, + or - 2 weeks.
38 to 42 weeks are considered normal term pregnancy length.

I doubt this fits with the timeline and the other notations, but we really don't know, do we?
It's also possible that months was written as a mistake instead of weeks because a non-medical person in the 80's tended to think of pregnancies in terms of months pregnant, not weeks pregnant.
If I explained the 40 weeks plus or minus 2 weeks as normal gestation length once, I'm sure I explained it over 100 times. People were still hung up on the " 9 months" description for the longest time.
Then, thankfully, those weekly fetal size photos/ illustrations came into being, and the woman or couple could see for themselves what we were trying to teach them about carrying a pre-term pregnancy to 32 weeks, etc.

The Internet has really aided a lot of professions.

Anyway, just an alternative idea from my viewpoint as a nurse.

I think it was her age when she assumed the new identity. 402/12 = 33.5 years old.
She said she was 19 in that photo, but she does look over 30, imo.
I think she was actually 33.5 when she said she was 19. But then, a 50 year old trying to get pregnant...hmmm, I would have to re-think it.
But that most recent Texas license, with the weight gain, reminds me of someone who is on a lot of medication, or someone who is menopausal. Just has a "bloat" that doesn't seem all that natural.

The following links are from a Spokane Washington case that occurred in 1978 when the perpetrator was about 22 years old. He ultimately faces serving 33 years or 402 months with good behavior credits that were earned. He was originally sentenced to death and there were several appeals that got him down to the 402 months. I also posted a link to his picture and a picture of the kit sap county deputy he killed. I have tried to find relatives as he indicted to the parole board that he still had family in the area that he could live with. I came up with nothing in the area under his last name. He also indicated that he could work because he had inherited a business from his father. It is indicated in appeals papers that he is a JR. Only older person I could find by that name was a man in TEXAS by that name. I am interested in finding out if he had a sister who may have gone to Texas with her father. The age range for her would be close depending on the age difference with the perp and depending on if FLEK was really older than she claimed on the false IDs. I've not been able to dig into Washington State records to determine if there are any relatives out there. Like I said, the people search of that name came up with the older man as the most interesting possible link. But there were a few others by that name, maybe California if I recall correctly.

From reading it I'm thinking she was the victim of some type of sexual crime. Her behavior speaks volumes- and now I understand why she would think her world was coming undone. It all makes sense to me. Finding her prior to 1988 is interesting, the way she was overly protective of her little girl makes me wonder if she was abused as a child or if she had given birth back then and someone close had taken her child. I find it interesting that the article states how she would not let them put daughter of ... in the announcement.

Could 402 be a road or an exit? Perhaps months is another thought entirely from 402 but taken down on the same phone call? I've done stuff like that before and had to explain what I meant to my wife as the notes didn't make sense but looked like they belonged together. Just a thought.

Whether it's 402 or 40, 2, the word "months" is definitely attached. It would be very hard for me to accept any theory that doesn't include or at least explain away the "months," because it seems to have been obviously written with the number preceding it.

The theory that stands out to me is the one back on Page 1 about the Cuban rapist Lazaro Valdez Torres from Bethlehem, PA. 402 months is such a specific phrase, and then there's the telephone number to the nearby library on the same page? I remember hearing FLEK had a fondness for Cuban food, followed by speculation that she had been around Florida. Here is a connection to Cuba in a place she basically mentioned by name on this page of notes. Does Pennsylvania have a sizable Cuban population? I wonder what brought LVT there; and also, if FLEK was not his victim, then perhaps a girlfriend or somehow otherwise involved?

The crime occurred in 1982; if FLEK was the 19 year old victim, that would mean she was born about 1962, 7 years before BST. Would adding 7 years to the age she claimed to be have been believable to those who suspected she was older?

402 months from the sentencing would have been June 2018. I haven't been able to find anything about the case after 1986, though, but I'm very curious to know what the current status is.

Was FLEK contacting the library to find articles about the crime, which was local? What's the protocol in this situation regarding the victim's name? Is it normal that LVT's victim was never mentioned by name? Was FLEK paranoid about that? Could she have been in witness protection? The judge was quoted as believing LVT was dangerous and would continue his criminal activity outside of jail.

I have done some deep Googling, and I think 402 MOS may refer to a Microsoft Office Specialist exam. It would make sense for FLEK to have written that in the 1995-1998 era.

Going with the idea that someone was checking up on phone calls using the CNA numbers, perhaps multiple numbers in the 402 area code were called and the person checking the records found out it had been going on for MONTHS. The hash marks below 402 Months could be the person counting as someone tells them over the phone which months calls were made to the 402 area code--like "Lori called 402 in January, February and March." Just a crazy thought I had.
