No name on this sweet little one. May she rest in peace.

When will people stop abusing and harming these babies?

This wasn't clear last evening and as of this morning they are looking for the parents to question them?

How did little one get to the hospital? Who called? Where are they?

The report I read said they questioned them and let them go...

Police are investigating the death of a 4-year-old Southwest Philadelphia girl Tuesday morning at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

The girl, identified as Seanita Brown, was pronounced dead about 2:50 after being brought to the hospital by her mother, bleeding from both ears and with old and new bruising across her body, according to police sources.

The mother and her boyfriend were questioned and released by Special Victims Unit officers Tuesday, pending the results of a medical examiner's report, police sources said.

A police source said Tuesday night the report found the girl had died of laceration of the liver from blunt-force trauma, and the death was ruled a homicide.

The Homicide Unit has taken over the case and is searching for the pair, police sources said. The mother and boyfriend were uncooperative with investigators in their initial interviews, a police source said.

The mother said that when she gave the girl a bath late Monday, the girl looked "out of it," the source said. The mother took her to the hospital, where the girl died shortly afterward. Doctors noticed the bruises on the girl's body and notified authorities. The mother and boyfriend could not explain the bruises, the source said.

Just before 5 p.m. Tuesday, police officers canvassed the 2200 block of South 56th Street, where neighbors said the girl lived with her mother, two siblings, and the boyfriend.

Alicia Taylor, a spokeswoman for the Department of Human Services, said confidentiality restrictions kept her from commenting on whether the agency was involved with the family or if it had been in the past.

As with every child fatality, DHS is conducting an internal investigation and assisting police, Taylor said.

Authorities brought the girl's 11-month-old brother to the hospital to be examined, but sources said that child was not injured. The age of an older brother has not been released.

Neighbors said the couple moved into the single-story redbrick rowhouse about three months ago. On Tuesday, the storm door was broken and a Dora the Explorer kitchen set sat in the overgrown front yard. An air conditioner was running in the front window, but no one answered the door.

"They looked like they were a happy family," said one neighbor, Mateen Abdul.

Special thanks, Tillie. So they let them go and now they are missing I guess. Of course just going by what they were reporting on Fox this morning. They did keep zeroing in on the Dora toy.

Poor little girl.

Parents are not cooperating. This little doll has been named and I keep losing my links.

Why were the parent released? So they were waiting on autopsy. So what. Why couldn't they be held on child abuse or endangerment charges? And where is the third child?! I hope not on the run with the parents!

What will happen to the body of this poor little child - who will lay her to rest?
Very sad - poor baby girl.

Mother charged - and surprise!!!! DHS was "involved" already....
Is DHS in Philly still the hot mess it was when Danieal Kelly was murdered????

Update: Josephita Brown has been charged with murder and endangering the welfare of a child, police said Friday morning.

Earlier Story:

The mother of a 4-year-old Southwest Philadelphia girl who died Tuesday morning at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia will be charged with murder, police sources said Thursday night.

Police were still questioning her boyfriend late Thursday.

Josephita Brown, of the 2200 block of South 56th Street, brought her daughter, Seanita, to Children's about 2 a.m. Tuesday. The girl was bleeding from both ears and had bruises all over her body, police sources said. She was pronounced dead about 2:50 a.m.

Special Victims Unit officers questioned Brown and her boyfriend later Tuesday and released them, pending the results of a medical examiner's report, police sources said.

The report found that the girl died of laceration of the liver from blunt-force trauma, and the death was ruled a homicide, a police source said. The Homicide Unit then took over the case.

Brown told investigators that when she gave Seanita a bath late Monday, the girl looked "out of it," the source said. She took Seanita to the hospital. Doctors noticed the bruises on the girl's body and notified authorities. Brown and her boyfriend could not explain the bruises, the source said.

The city's child-welfare agency was involved with the family and had investigated an allegation of abuse against Seanita weeks before her death, according to a relative of the girl's who asked not to be identified.

In June, Seanita's day-care center notified the Department of Human Services that Seanita was walking with a limp and had bruises on her leg.

A DHS social worker took Seanita to Children's, where she was examined by doctors. The doctors found that Seanita's injuries were consistent with the mother's story that Seanita had accidentally fallen, the relative said.

As part of the investigation, the social worker visited the 56th Street home about two weeks before Seanita died, the relative said.

Alicia Taylor, a DHS spokeswoman, said confidentiality restrictions kept her from commenting on the case.

As with every child fatality, DHS is conducting an internal investigation and assisting police, Taylor has said.

Josephita Brown is scheduled to be arraigned Friday morning

Both the mom and boyfriend were sentenced earlier this year.

Prison for mother who silently watched boyfriend beat her 4-year-old daughter to death - February

http://www.philly.com/philly/news/20160202_Prison_for_mother_who_silently_watched_boyfriend_beat_her_4-year-old_daughter_to_death.html

A Southwest Philadelphia woman charged with conspiracy in the beating death of her 4-year-old daughter was sentenced Friday to four to eight years in state prison.

Josephita Brown, 27, pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of a child, involuntary manslaughter, and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault nearly two years ago.

The four- to eight-year sentence that Judge Glenn B. Bronson imposed does fall within sentencing guidelines. He said he took into account not only the "terrible offense" committed, but Brown's willingness to testify - a rarity, he said - and considered her learning disabilities.

S.W. Phila. man gets long sentence in death of girl, 4 - April

The judge said the presentencing report describing Edward Golphin's childhood was "one of the worst I've ever seen."

Born to a crack-addicted mother, no father present, sexually molested - and regularly beaten with a belt, hangers, and shoes - it was surprising that Golphin had no juvenile arrest record, said his lawyer, Michael E. Wallace.

But ultimately, Philadelphia Common Pleas Court Judge Genece E. Brinkley agreed with the prosecutor that she had to deal with the man Golphin is, and not the abused child he was. On Friday, she sentenced him to 52 1/2 to 105 years in prison for the two years of beatings that killed 4-year-old Seanita Brown.
