That's horrible!

Very dangerous to be on a boat at night, as we've seen many times here in Fl.

I wonder if the group knew the barges were there? From the article:

There are a number of barges located both north and south of the Tappan Zee bridge as construction begins on a replacement for that aging structure that is scheduled for completion in 2017.

Good point, reader. I totally overlooked that about the barges...so the barge was probably stationary due to the construction project. I guess it doesn't matter whether it was moving or not at this point.....either way the boat would lose. Good God....what an awful thing to happen.

I sure hope it wasn't the groom-to-be who was driving....imagine the guilt.

I know, I feel so sorry for him and her mother, who said:

It just can't end this way....

But apparently it has with the divers out today. Must not have had life jackets on either.

So sad...

Unidentified woman's body reportedly recovered after Hudson River boat crash

An official says the six were on a 21-foot Stingray near Piermont when it hit the barge Friday night. The friends were making a short trip across the river to Tarrytown, authorities said.

George Drescher with Rockland County Fire and Emergency Services tells the Journal News that one person was unconscious, one had a broken arm and the other two had minor injuries.

The groom must be heartbroken to have lost his soon-to-be-bride and best man.

Absolutely heartbreaking. Prayers for all involved, especially the groom. Such a horrific accident. :(

I really hate hearing this. I lived in Piermont for several years and still go there a few times a year. It's a beautiful spot. Its so sad that such a happy time turned so tragic. I will never understand drinking and driving or boating. Lives ruined by very stupid choices.
