Not a lot to go on here, but I'd love some input on whether this could be a match. (First thread I've started, so apologies if I'm doing it wrong!)

Unidentified:

White male, 35-45, 72", 160 lbs, brown hair. Devil dog and eagle tattoos on left arm. Found in Colombia River near Portland, Oregon on July 18, 2013.

MP:

Michael Scott McLean
White male, 44, 72", 150 lbs' brown hair. Devil dog and eagle tats on left arm (but also has other tats, including peace sign, eternity sign, "mom", etc.--however, remains were partly decomposed). Missing from Vancouver, WA in February 2013.

The UID is estimated to have been in the water for "weeks" and was found in disposable scrubs and a jacket--sounds like someone who quickly left a hospital. I can't find much on the MP, but five months seems like more than enough time to go missing and end up in the hospital.

Any thoughts on this one?

Thot I'd chime in fwiw...

I think the MP pic actually looks like he is wearing a 'scrub' shirt no? There's a large pic for viewing here:
http://www.missingin.org/reg8531/michael_scott_mclean.htm

The photo also seems like a photo ID pic, maybe he was employed at a hospital...???...I dunno, going to dig around some more.

Also, I had to look at a map to discover the Columbia River IS what divides Vancouver WA from Portland OR.

Excellent work FF!

Thanks. Same here about the Columbia River--I had no idea they were so close until I mapped it.

could he be wearing navy scrubs??

Someone should submit it. Everything looks to line up perfectly. Excellent sleuthing, FiveFelines!

The time of decomposition may have only started with the late spring thaw. I'm not sure how they account for frozen in ice during winter when water is involved.

I can't tell if those are scrubs or a t-shirt, but its possible they're scrubs. The UID was found in disposable scrubs. I don't know what those are, but I envisioned a paper Johnny situation.

Also, the tats on the UID suggest Marines, if I'm not mistaken. He looks sad in that picture--eyes look watery to me, but who knows? Maybe he has allergies or a cold.

I've never submitted before, but I could try. If someone with more experience wants to do it, I'm happy to pass it on.

Thank you!

Wow! Everything lines up; I really think this is a match. Definitely should be called in.

I wonder if it's already on their radar. I wouldn't think that there are many missing people with devil dog tattoos.

I just submitted this via email to Detective Schultz. Will let you know if I hear anything back. Thanks for the encouragement!

...And I already heard back. Here is her response:

Good Morning Jessica,

Thank you so very much for your work and attention to help identify this individual.

The information is being processed accordingly. We will have results soon and I will keep you updated.

Take care,

Lindsay.

Just wanted to update you all on this. I followed up with Detective Schultz and this was her response. She confirmed that this UID is Mr. McLean. Not sure if the mods consider this a Match or Identified (I submitted it to her in August), but either way, he has his name back!
BTW, the MP is off Namus, but they haven't taken the UID off yet.

Hi Jessica,
Thank You for following up on this case.

A few weeks ago we had a DNA comparison that matched Mr. McLean with his mother so he was positively identified.

Thank you again hopefully answered your question and he should've been removed from NamUs.

Take care
