does anyone know more info about this? this is awful...his poor family!

Friends, family and police officials fear the worst for an Elgin teen last heard making a 911 call from the trunk of a car Friday.

Elgin police continue to search for clues in the disappearance of 18-year-old David Steeves, who they believe was kidnapped. Police say they don’t believe it’s a prank, and they recognize time is of the essence in this investigation.

Although Elgin police investigators say they’ve received several good tips, there’s still no sign of the Elgin Community College student.

“The police called us and said they haven’t found anything new yet," David's sister Anna said Tuesday morning. "But there’s been a lot of publicity and maybe we’ll find something today."

Police say Steeves called 911 on his cell phone at 9:11 p.m. Friday night, saying he was being robbed and was in the trunk of his mother's car. The call was then lost, and further attempts to call back the number went unanswered. Afternoon shift officers responded to the area but failed to find anyone or anything of a suspicious nature.

The cell call was traced to the 600 block of South Street in Elgin, where a resident found blood in her driveway and a gym shoe belonging to the missing teenager Saturday morning....

Oh that is just awful...I fear this isn't a prank, although it is eerie that the 911 call was made at 9:11...I have a feeling this one won't have a good ending:(

Robbery. Can you even imagine, robbery would be the cause of this poor young man's death? Robbery. Of what, you wonder.

I wish they took people like this out behind the building and beat them to death with a board. To kill this man over some small amount is . . . evil.

How Horrible.
Prayers for the family.

God's Blessings,

Robert Guyton, 23, a co-defendant in the case, was denied bail Friday morning when he appeared before a judge on the same charges.

Before sentencing Robert Guyton, 24, for his role in the death of David Steeves Jr., 19, Kane County Judge Grant Wegner said Guyton needs "to review the terror in [Steeves'] voice" in the 911 call he made just before he was shot to death.

"You let your anger control your life," Wegner told Guyton, who was convicted in April of first-degree murder and aggravated kidnapping. "Make no mistake, that was an execution of David Steeves," State's Atty. John Barsanti said.

Wegner opted to sentence Guyton, a former Kane County resident, to 45 years on the murder conviction and 11 years for kidnapping.

Steeves was abducted April 8, 2005, after going to an apartment in Elgin to sell marijuana, authorities said.
