SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — An investigation into a fire that gutted the home of a former escort in a largely rural Northern California county has a surprising focus: the veteran district attorney with whom the woman had an affair.

Sutter County District Attorney Carl Adams, a 65-year-old grandfather, was one of several suitors of Sarah Garibay, who showed police text messages from Adams saying he was jealous of her other lovers.........

It was Adams' behavior immediately after the July 21 fire that drew scrutiny from local law enforcement and fire officials. He showed up at the fire scene the next morning, which fire officials said he had never done before.

Definitely something hinky about both of them!

An affidavit filed in Sutter County, where Adams has been the district attorney for 31 years, said Adams lied to investigators when they first asked him about whether he had sex with Garibay, whom he met in 2010 when he was prosecuting a case in which she testified. In that case, another Garibay lover was convicted of manslaughter for killing a man after he walked in on the couple having sex.

...Later, he sent several emails to fire investigators referring to the incident as "arson," describing "pour patterns" found at the scene and referring to the fire starting in the bedroom — details no investigator remembered sharing with him. He also circumvented the normal process to seek financial victim assistance for Garibay, arousing suspicion in his own office.
Police found Adams' behavior unusual, "as he has never involved himself in an investigation in this manner," the affidavit said.

Wow! She certainly has had some trouble with men in her life. I would be scared to death not knowing who may be responsible, with so many possible suspects. I think I would be cutting my ties with all men for a while and moving into hiding if they do in fact find this to be arson. I hope they are able to determine who is responsible.

Luckily her or her child were not injured in the fire, but who knows how far someone may go. It sounds like she has had some close calls in the past. My anxiety couldn't take it. I hope that she and her child are able to find safety from anyone that may wish harm on them.

Pick your partners wisely. Nothing good ever comes from having an affair and working in the sex industry is very risky.

I have other strong opinions but it's better I keep them to myself......

Here is an article about Sarah Janeen Garibay from 2010:

Prostitute details events leading up to physician's death
Witness says man was pistol-whipped by another of her 'sugar daddies'

December 10, 2010 12:19:00 AM

"A Yuba City woman who acknowledged making her living from prostitution gave lurid testimony Thursday at a preliminary hearing about events leading up to the September death of physician Hyo Seoung Shin.

Sarah Janeen Garibay said Shin, whom she knew as Johnny, was one of at least three "sugar daddies" she had — not including the man charged with murdering him, 49-year-old Jeffrey Wayne Clay of Sebastopol.

Shin was found mortally injured Sept. 3 behind Garibay's Shasta Street apartment."

This case might have been when she and Adams first met?

Arson probe exposes affair, Calif. DA steps down

http://www.centurylink.net/news/rea...p-arson_probe_exposes_affair_calif_da_step-ap

YUBA CITY, Calif. (AP) — It started with an arson investigation, led to an affair revelation, and finally to the resignation of a longtime Northern California prosecutor.

Carl Adams, for three decades the district attorney of Sutter County, announced Tuesday that he'll step down, just hours after his former lover accused police in an Associated Press article of overreaching when they counted him as a suspect in the lowly arson case that aroused suspicions and exposed his affair with the victim, a paid escort.........more......

She goes on to list other lovers who are better suspects. What a gubber he was! AFAIK, he got what he deserved.....but that's just me....

Apparently Garibay has gone on a campaign this week to attempt to clear Adams:

This article is from Thursday, this week. I don't usually watch Inside Edition but it seems she is reaching out to media.

TV interview airing Thursday:
Sarah Garibay talks about the affair with Carl Adams on "Inside Edition" at 7:30 p.m. today on KXTV.

She also spoke to NBC's "Dateline."

Sarah Garibay says she is out to clear Carl Adams' name.

"I believe he was slandered," Garibay said of the Sutter County district attorney. "He was innocent. I have nothing bad to say about the man."

Adams was named earlier this year as a possible suspect in a fire that destroyed Garibay's Yuba City home.

The affair and the controversy will likely be covered as Garibay is interviewed tonight on a national television show, "Inside Edition."
