I grew up in NYC in the 70's and 80's and remember this awful crime very clearly. I hope, but I doubt, there will ever be justice in full for Kelly, since I don't believe there will be prosecution of any alleged accomplices. However, the convicted perp needs to stay behind bars for the remainder of his natural life, IMO. There was never any remorse from any member of his family. Sickening. JMO

Hi, Salem, I found this that shows his hearing is in 11/13, does not list a day.
His parole eligibility date, if approved, is 3/20/14. Only have to enter name to get the info, scroll down:

Also, here is a petition by Richard Tinyes dated 9/11/13 requesting signatures against the release of Golub. 1718 have signed so far.

HTH....

Here is a CBS New York article and news video that discusses Golub's upcoming parole. It says that it is the first time he has been up for parole. From the article:

"Fourteen members of the Tinyes family will testify before the parole board on Oct. 17 and Golub will have his turn to testify next month before the parole board makes its decision."

It also shows a recent image of Robert Golub.

I lived two towns from there when this happen. This was a horrible crime. Her poor family had to live nearly next to the family, who had no remorse at all.

I watched the trial on channel 12 news.

Thank you Salem for posting this.

Robert Golub was denied parole for the 1989 murder of Kelly Tinyes, He will be up for parole again in 2 years.

source article: No Parole for NY man held for girl's 1989 slaying

From the article:

In its denial, the parole board cited the sentencing judge's description of the crime as "the most atrocious that I have ever experienced."

The judge went on to say, "No dictionary contains sufficient words to describe the brutality of your acts."

The parole board included with its a decision a record of 18 prison disciplinary actions against Golub that included fighting, possessing a weapon and contraband, and creating a disturbance.

Pretty much the same article in The Wall Street Journal (same headline; AP article)

New article in the Long Island Newsday --
Robert Golub accepts responsibility for Kelly Ann Tinyes' death, documents show

Transcripts from Golub's November parole board hearing showed Tuesday that Golub -- after years of denying he killed Kelly -- accepted responsibility for her death during his failed bid for release.
Golub, 46, who is serving a sentence of 25 years to life, apologized and claimed he never intended to cause Kelly's death. He described the rage he went into while killing Tinyes, saying he was using a "ridiculous" amount of anabolic steroids at the time.

The article provides quotations from Golub regarding what he said happened on that day. The comments section of the article is also interesting.

Thank goodness they didn't let him out!

Robert Golub is once again up for parole. He is scheduled for a parole hearing sometime in November 2015. Kelly's family has started a petition to submit to the Parole Board and is appealing for public support.

LI Newsday article: Kelly Ann Tinyes' family makes online appeal in bid to keep her killer, Robert Golub, behind bars

I talked to a friend of mine about the family's request - her ex-husband (Alex) worked for the Nassau County Police Force at the time. She said that, at the time, Alex told her that the district attorney's office tried to keep as much of the details about the murder hush-hush because of fear of the public's reaction. I quote her as saying that her husband told her that "those working on the inside knew she (Kelly) was basically gutted like a deer."
