SEATTLE (AP) - The Skamania County sheriff's office says a limited air and ground search found no sign of an Oregon man missing in a remote area of southwest Washington.

A more extensive helicopter search of the Pacific Crest Trail in that county on Thursday found no trace of a young Oregon woman who has been out of contact with relatives........

wow, four hikers mentioned in one article - two of whom were saved Kyla Arnold and Matt Margiotta) and two others (Alejandra Wilson and Kristopher Zitzewitz) still apparently missing separately

it`s been three days since those articles and I don`t see any updates anywhere

Kyla Arnold said she saw Alejandra on the trail

"We finally made it to Trout Lake today and another huge storm is rolling in," Arnold wrote. "Everyone says we can't make it because of the weather situation, and to be honest it's quite terrifying, but I can't fathom coming this far and giving up."

The Yakima County Sheriff's Office search and rescue team was on standby to provide assistance as needed, Sgt. George Town said Wednesday.

Yeah let us hope they had GSP trackers. If they did not well....

YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) — A 23-year-old woman reported missing while hiking the Pacific Crest Trail in southwest Washington has been found safe, but a search for an Oregon man has been suspended.

Alejandra Wilson was located Saturday afternoon, authorities said. She was cold and tired but otherwise OK..........

"The Coast Guard guys were right on track. They did a good job. She wasn't able to make herself visible," but their presence "gave her real confidence," Town said.

He noted that she still had food when she was located Saturday. She was reunited with her dad, grandparents and friends Saturday........

Meanwhile, the search was suspended for Kristopher Zitzewitz, 31, of Portland, who was last seen Sept. 28 in the Big Lava Beds area of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest

Skamania County Undersheriff Dave Cox said more than 100 people searched Saturday. Further searching was suspended pending new information about his whereabouts.

Portland resident Kristopher Zitzewitz went missing in the lava bed fields Sept. 28, 2013, when unseasonably bad weather brought record amounts of rain to the region and snow in the mountains. The 31-year-old became separated from his hiking partner in the Big Lava Beds near Goose Lake. “It was the most torrential downpour I think I’ve ever seen in my life,” Blevins said. After a few hours in the area, a trash can set next to the command post was filled with rainwater, he said.

Searchers fanned out, using GPS to walk to search points and back because the visibility was so poor. More than 100 searchers used vehicles, motorcycles and K-9 teams in a concerted effort in the Big Lava Beds area approximately 10 miles north of Cook in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. A helicopter flew at treetop level, looking in crevasses and tree wells. “It’s the roughest, nastiest terrain possible,” Blevins said.

He said it’s possible that Zitzewitz fell down one of those fissures. The Portland man is presumed dead. Blevins plans to look for his body again this summer.
