Thanks for the info hollye. Had seen earlier on si.com that AP was in SD and that it was said to be "a criminal matter."

So sad! Praying for his little boy!

tmz is reporting it is NOT Adrian Jr. which is who you see in public with him most often

8:41 AM PT -- Multiple sources with direct knowledge of the situation tell TMZ ... the injured child is Adrian's son, but it's not Adrian Peterson Jr., the child he's been famously photographed with in public over the years.

We reached out to Peterson's reps -- but so far, we have not heard back.

How horrible :( TMZ also reporting that he is on life support and there has been no brain activity since last night. Oh my goodness, what on earth did he do to that poor baby???

It's horrible. He has not had an easy life:

Peterson's brother Brian, older by one year, was killed by a drunk driver when Peterson was seven; another half-brother was murdered the night before Peterson participated in the NFL Combine

(Wikipedia)

I feel sad for all involved.

THe poor baby - how could anyone to this to a toddler?

So sad. RIP little one.

Adrian Peterson's Son Dies From Injuries

Adrian Peterson's 2-year-old son has died ... cops have confirmed.

Cops believe Peterson's son was severely beaten by 27-year-old Joseph Patterson, the man who was dating the mother of the NFL star's child.

As we reported, the mother of the child has decided to donate the child's organs to people in need.

Heavy sigh... I hope he was unconscious after the first blow and didn't suffer through the entire thing.

I just read on tmz that his bail was 750,000 and he got out today??

"27-year-old Joseph Patterson was released from Minnehaha County Jail in South Dakota this morning after posting $750,000 bond.

The bond was lowered from $1 million yesterday after Patterson pled not guilty in court. He has been charged with second degree murder and 2 counts of first degree manslaughter, as well as aggravated battery of an infant. He has also been charged with felony child abuse."

And there are no restictions on his release. This is a dangerous man IMO and they should at least be monitoring or restricting where he goes. Bad decision to let him out--bad bad bad. MOO

Ten months after the death of his young son in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson says he has made some major changes in his life...

The death of his son, Peterson said, served to reinforce the conclusion he had drawn in his mind about, among other things, stability and commitment. "It's time for you to really get your life in order," Peterson recalled telling himself. "When all that stuff came down, it's more like, 'Reality check, man.' It's time to start walking the way you know you need to instead of straddling the fence -- knowingly straddling the fence.

"First and foremost, [it was] getting in alignment what God wanted for me in my life and stop [being promiscuous]. I was pretty much doing what I wanted to do, and I could pretty much do that. [It was] just to get in alignment with God, having a wife and really creating that bond and that life. It was more fulfillment knowing the head man is proud and knowing I'm doing it the right way."

Good for him!

I didn't realize he never got to meet him :(

Joseph Patterson is scheduled for trial in October on charges of second-degree murder, manslaughter, and aggravated assault...

A judge ruled that three separate attacks by Patterson on children can be used in the trial. Each of the cases allegedly happened within the last four years against children 3 years old or younger.

Jurors will not hear about an alleged attack on the mother of the victim in June. Patterson faces charges of aggravated assault and kidnapping in that case.
